you have a whole bunch of possible magazines in germany, don´t you?

well, yes, I´m not much for the phone thing either. but I don´t think they ever use mail interviews (and besides, I have a feeling it would be hard to get a short mail interview good and it´s not very fair to have to take away 9/10ths of what he/she writes...)
and, if possible, live is of course always coolest. I´m guessing.


CoT: well, you´re completely right, of course. I´ll try to avoid the pen/paper solution to any extent, though, since I don´t want to take any risks whatsoever of blowing it totally.

It feels like my crap talking capacity is increasing tremendously for every minute spent on the Dark Tranquillity board.

I was just expressing that I don´t_really_like to phone to strangers, but this is of course only my current feeling. Dunno, though, a mail-interview could be cool aswell, if the questions are nice. Or maybe I should change my opinion, if I´d ever write for another mag. *grins*
You are right, there is a greater chance here in Germany, couple of mags. We´ll see about that one day. I haven´t tried yet.

fireangel: I whole-heartedly understand and feel quite the same. it´s not so much a question about wanting, really. I just don´t feel I can come crashing in and start with breaking their conventions...
and nothing bad with mail-interviews as such, the only problem I can see is that you cannot make instant follow up-questions if you want to dig deeper into something.
I´m quite divided, I guess. before I´ve even tried any of the ways

just realised your interviews are in english, though, despite the german page, so maybe it´s for the better that you stay there so we can take part of them

you are right, that part about follow-up questions is solved better outside the mail-option. Ah, you will see with time how things are going and what you like best. As long as you are prepared, there is really not much which could go wrong (and always have fresh batteries for the recorder )

thanks for your kind words about my interviews. Usually, they wish for the translated version, but as I did them in english and actually intend couple of people read it - also the bands themselves!, first of all I publish them in english. One day I should deliver the german version, though..... The advantage of this certain mag is, that I have almost maximum freedom (as long as I don´t want to interview a band that someone else already takes care of. But these are our rules. No-one will mix up with "my" bands either.) I do only what I like basically. (and I am way_late with, ehem, several articles *goes for a new nightshift*)

Concerning english, few of my colleagues published their interviews in both languages, too. Also I translated few of my reviews, but it would be too much work to have them all bilingual, those were an exception. And the oomph!-interview was translated, cuz this is a german band

You said you write for a webzine aswell, which one? Can I have a look, too?

NF: Unfortunately I tend to feel very useless when I have no one to help with their problems. It's very motivating to me when a friend comes to me with a relationship problem and I can help them with a different perspective. I kind of wish I had a way to maintain that motivation.
