Other melodic death bands...

Dawn of Creation sound excellent music wise but the singer needs refining. Kinda like OMNIUM GATHERUM.

Other good melodic death (some may have been mentioned)
Cipher System
The Bereaved
The Duskfall
Nightrage
Callenish Circle
Within Y
Detonation
Diabolical
Burden of Grief
The Absence

It's nice to hear Garden of Shadows receive a bit of well deserved credit. Funny thing, i've owned Oracle Moon for years and have considered that a fine effort by the band. Two days ago I was able to locate their ' Heart of the Corona ' mcd and purchase that, so I really looking foward to that arrival. By the way... why hasn't anyone mentioned Exhumation on this forum? I think they deserve a mention and would highly recommend their first album ' Seas of Eternal Silence ' as a great introductory album to the band.

Cheers...

Best fucking band i heard in my life was Ensiferum. Such an awesome sound, melodic, perfect vocal, SICK rythm guitar. The only thing that could scare some of you is that most of the songs/riffs are viking/magic/battle oriented like. But this is a sure choise, trust me.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

arsis, beneath the massacre, origin, alarum, behemoth, covenance, no one here hasnt heard of nile, and check out www.myspace.com/abortedexistence i put 3 of 9 songs from our first CD Sunken Eye View up on there the other day. lemme know what you think and how to go about getting the CD. 8 songs are done for the next CD, and holy fuck they rule. cant wait for this new Kalmah!! seriously check out Arsis tho.

also check Royal Anguish (fucking brutal music with female vocals to go with the growls)

Imperanon = CoB worship. it even says it in the press release. I know Omnium Gatherum and Insomnium have been mentioned, but definately worth checking out.

Blind Stare I onlyehard their demo, but it's fantastic.

If you're going for viking/folk metal, Thyrfing is amazing, Moonsorrow might appeal to you if you dig Finntroll, and of course the mighty Wintersun and Ensiferum.

Equilibrium from Germany is an amazing band.

If nobody minds old school Swedish metal, Edge of Sanity = owns. Sonic Syndicate is a band that just started out too that has some promise, may take an album or 2 more to get it perfect, though.

Nobody's mentioned Amorphis either. Tales from the 1000 Lakes is a defining Finnish album.

Looking forward big time to the new Kalmah album, more so really then Bodom's last one.

And oh, I know everyone hates the Bodom comparisons, but they're going to happen anyway cause Bodom just happened to get MUCH more exposure and chances are was a LOT of people's introduction to the world of Finnish Metal, or melodic metal entirely, so naturally a lot of people are going to go "this sounds like Bodom".

Hey, whatever sells music and convinces them to tour, right?

EDIT: Just rememebred Yyrkoon, French extreme band that reminds me a bit of Necroticism-era Carcass.

Amorphis Tales of a 1000 lakes - is a great cd - best death metal cd in my opinion
Swallow the Sun are one of my favorite doom metal band, Ghosts of loss is awesome
Another cool Finnish band if you like doomy metalcore is Callisto, they create an amazing atmosphere and blend doom metal with hints of metalcore very well.

I don't know if anyone mentioned Dispatched, but their Motherwar CD sounds very much like Norther. They also covered Final Countdown.
