The Art Thread

what an awesome thread, I have been looking at the last few pages

Btw, I guess it's time I got you off my ignore list. You seem to be showing some tact these days.

Blue Jay, on the other hand, seriously needs to trip on the sidewalk one day while walking down the street, and land in front of an oncoming truck convoy.

You can try e-mailing the guy. Here's his website. It doesn't seem to say anything about buying prints on the site, but it can't hurt to ask.

edit: Actually, I just noticed that there's a button on the right of the home page that takes you to a page with prices for his prints.

The problem I have with this one is that it's not very accurate at all, it seems the artist has just straightened the Thames into one long straight river, with Westminster, St Pauls, and Tower Bridge all aligned.

I guess he was just trying to get lots of landmarks in, but to me it loses some of the scary realism that would otherwise have been created very nicely.

That horribly digitized "Underground" symbol ruins the above for me. The work is so obviously London to begin with that it doesn't need that. The rest of it looks passably organic, but that one particular element does it in.

I love this one by the way, it really sums up the scene of total good versus total evil. Which is which depends on your stance I suppose!

It's pretty awesome to see the Emperor pre-invalid though, in all his battlegear. Poor old Sanguinius.

But if you think about it, what's so 'good' about wanting to unite Humanity and only Humanity under one banner and eradicate anyone who gets in the way or is not human?

Of course, Chaos has him trumped with baby eating etc.

the paintings at the top of this page

is there anywhere I can buy these and put them on the wall in my basement? (when we move into the new house)

Are you trying to buy prints of the paintings or the actual paintings? Please tell me prints. You shouldn't keep paintings in a basement. (Though right now my studio's in my basement i don't have a choice.)

We don't have Photoshop installed yet on the school computers so there are no textures at the moment =(

And yes it's game art, not that high end pixar stuff. It requires a completely different structure, don't get me started.

God she's gorgeous.

You would probably dig Lord Leighton's work, if you like that lush, luxurious kind of feel.... I'd also look at Millais, of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.
