The Official Movie Thread

The best documentary of all time.

Repo Men was an enjoyable movie with an interesting premise, and i was pretty surprised by the ending.

also watched the first Wall Street which was quite intelligent and filled with stockmarket lingo, though it's a simple story at its core. its lead actors were good and i hope Lebouf doesnt ruin the sequel too much.

Watched The Indian Runner(1991) and Hunger(2008) recently.

The Indian Runner directed by Sean Penn was decent with great performances by David Morse(as the good bro) and Viggo Mortenson(as the bad bro). But surprise, surprise Sean Penn makes it all about the message(which is nonexistent) instead of a subtle, Cassevettes-like approach, which worked when tried. 79/100

Hunger about the Ireland hunger strike orchestrated by Bobby Sands in the early 80's. If you thought The Machinist was a tough watch, check out Michael Fassbender in this. You won't want to go hungry anytime soon.
83/100

Going to check out Eden Lake next.

I love that movie, but haven't seen it in so many years now! God, I forgot Viggo was the "bad" brother in that. Truly an amazing film, and inspired by a Bruce Springsteen song.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - I thought this was excellent. I do with they would have fleshed out her back story just a bit more but we knew what we needed to know. Didn't feel like 2.5 hours at all.

I agree, I thought it was good. Coincidentally, a friend just lent me the novel. I'm told it's better, but now that I know the end it seems somewhat... pointless.

Yeah Viggo was great, as usual; but watch The Crossing Guard with Jack Nicholson for a better movie directed by Sean Penn.

Eden Lake was pretty lame man..those other frenchies/italian movies haven't really struck me as hard as Martyrs

Time to watch Oldboy and then A Serbian Film.

44 Inch Chest - It was okay. I liked a lot of the dialogue but I felt like it didn't pay off. Some really good acting too.

Completely agree with this review.

I literally have the disk of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo sitting next to me right now. My dad bought it the other day. Unfortunately, I still have the unread book sitting upstairs and I want to read that first.

EDIT: @Vitor, what is that awesome thing in your sig?

Guys, i'm searching for a Bergman movie, but i don't know which one i should start. i like controversial movies and i'd like to know if he has one.

Virgin Spring probably. Cries and Whispers could be considered shocking because there are some rather uh "interesting" moments in the movie. Same goes for Persona (a new dimension to loving yourself!)

just watch any Bergman film. you'll be better for it
