The Official Movie Thread

^ I've actually only seen the first two Evil Dead movies but I hear the third one is definitely worth watching.

I'm curious to know how many DVDs is in everyone's collection. I know a friend who has a few hundred DVDs but to me that amount is somewhat ridiculous.

I personally only buy DVDs that truly appeal to me and so my minuscule collection is currently at about 18 or so. Of course there are many that I need to add, but because I like a lot of foreign films, those are hard to obtain...especially when some don't have North American releases.

I stopped buying DVDs earlier this year (except for the limited edition of Final Fantasy VII which I got a few weeks ago. When is the blu ray out??? ;[) and will now only go for the HD medium. I have a hundred or so dvds from before but I already got some movies in both formats (Kung Fu Hustle and The Hulk to be precise).

And to all you "well a DVD is 3 bucks while the HD crap is sooo expensive" n00bs out there, I prefer CDs over casettes ^^

I like the Big Lebowski, and I'm not usually a fan of comedies. I remember a few months ago it was on cable, on a relatively new movie channel (that usually doesn't censor movies) where it was just butchered - every swear removed or edited, many scenes taken out...probably the worst censorship I've seen.

Yeah, I saw an edited version where, instead of John Goodman yelling "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FUCK A STRANGER IN THE ASS!!", it was "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MEET A STRANGER IN THE ALPS!!"

Fucking horrid editing.

it's always great to watch Casino on TBS and witness the tremendous censoring job done for pretty much all of Joe Pesci's lines
