I wasn't really that shocked when I first watched A Serbian Film. I think that was mainly due to how high the production values were. It seemed to have more in common with something like Saw than it did with Antichrist or Begotten. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as I did actually enjoy the movie but it wasn't nearly as disturbing as I was lead to believe. It was just an entertaining exploitation film. The only part that truely made me uncomfortable was the "newborn porn".
Onto Antichrist, I thought the style and art were amazing. I'm still not sure what the message was, if there even was one, but it was gorgeous to look at and the atmosphere and acting was fantastic. I can't say I'm looking forward to seeing Shia Laboeuf in unsimulated sex scenes in the next von Trier film though.
