Rare that I agree with you, but yeah basically. I like it a little more in hindsight but you could trim like 30 minutes of nothing happening from that film.

bong joon-ho won the palme d’or btw. that’s pretty cool, he doesn’t seem the usual type to win that award and hopefully his stock will rise as a result. i’m super excited to see parasite.

Yeah I agree, I was pleasantly surprised. I'd seen the trailer and had mixed feelings about how good it would be, thought it might have been just a bit of a cash grab with a few funny lines. But it was genuinely funny and had some really great scenes in it.

This post made no sense to me until, coincidentally, I watched Burning last night and realised what you so eloquently meant.

Somewhat agree though. I liked the enigmatic Vertigo vibe but too many cop-outs in terms of narrative and character development/motivation. Plus the girl is annoying as shit.
