I actually had a weird dream about a train derailment (I think brought on by watching Train to Busan recently) and then I woke up to see this news. Can't even imagine going through something crazy like this, "bodies and luggage being thrown around inside the carriages."
Heard about that just after it happened last night. Was obviously unlucky for the driver and pilot but everyone else walked off the train, that's pretty darn lucky. There has to be quite a few questions asked about why this happened.
I'm not an expert on the subject by any means but it appears that the train crash above has several factors which are going to come under scrutiny.
1. V/line's constant insistence that trains be replaced with buses state-wide due to track maintenance issues.
2. V/line staff walking off the job recently in relation to maintenance on that specific area of track
3. V/line drivers refusing to traverse that part of the line in the last week
4. Speed of the train
5. Why the train was on a siding, presumably at speed.
6. If the train was not supposed to be on the siding why were the points sending it that way.
I can't wait to have a fucking beer today. (Read: smash fucking 10 different beers).
Right now I'm leannig towards the most asocial manner of doing it - buying the beers, bringing them home, and smash them while playing Minecraft and listening to obscure classical music. However, if someone wants to join, I guess I'm open to that.
Had a lot of fun (just home before 2am) last night at the Fasnacht festival in Helvetia last night. We were all pretty cold by the time they tossed Old Man Winter onto the fire but it was a pretty fun party in a tiny town. It was our first time going because the winter usually prohibits travel to the area in the winter but the wife and I (and my sister) are already planning for next year. We will definitely need to make our own masks and march in the parade this time.
I have a ton of pictures I can post but they’re between 4 phones at the minute. I’ll try to get all the best stuff from everyone and go from there.
Moving day tomorrow.... and the next and the next. Bout to be real shitty for a few. On the plus side since I'll have two bathrooms now and more square footage overall I get to go shopping. Since we're boaters/fisherman and the new place is on a canal I'm doing the half bath in an aged, black and white map style kraken theme. I'd go sepia personally but all the counters in the place are faux white marble with black lines running throughout.
Once, in 2011. I was drinking for three days straight and sleeping on the ground like a hobo. Now I'm not into these fucked up crowded parties anymore.
I would be surprised. I wasn't wearing bikini or a banana costume. I also wasn't one of those people crowdsurfing above the concrete. The ambulance was going back and forth.
EDIT: The only moment where I could be possibly seen is during the Incantation set because it was raining so fucking heavily most people just left and I got to be in the first row.
