Top 5 Least Favorite Opeth Songs

im suprised nobody has said isolation years.

I love Isolation Years... meh. I don't really get why everyone hates Beneath the Mire or Atonement either, both great songs. I can understand not liking Hours of Wealth (even though that's an alright song). Everyone seems to hate Ghost Reveries for some reason. I personally think it's one of their best.

My 5 least favourites would have to be...
Weakness
Hours of Wealth
And pick any 3 off of MAYH. I never really got into that album much. It's good and all, just none of it really caught my attention too well.

BTPISIO
The Grand Conjuration.

They're the only two songs which I can say I somewhat dislike, though they're pretty cool songs.

Others I'll list, but not really songs I dislike, I just like them less than the rest:

The Amen Corner
Wreath
A Fair Judgement

The Amen Corner- I agree with the others who mentioned it. The intro just kills the mood set by the previous songs, and although it has great moments(especially the fading outro), I really dont get too excited for this one.

Karma- I dont know. I think it has to do with being one of the later songs on MAYH. By then I have already been served with enough great shit, so I lose interest when it comes on.

Dirge for November- Beautiful intro, beautiful outro. Somewhere in the middle, it is extremely bland and boring. This track always kills the momentum in BWP for me, making it one of the more inconsistant Opeth albums in my opinion.

Masters Apprentices- Just sounds very uninspired to me at times. I get sick of the opening riff.

Weakness- Damnation usually ends at Ending Credits for me.

TBYF (The most repetetive song theyve done)
Weakness (D1 should have ended with ending credits...so anticlimatic)
Death wispered (Just dont have much lasting power)
AFJ (the long intro & outro ruines the song)
Wreath (Not a bad song but it repeats itself to often)

By The Pain I See In Others is quite possibly Opeth's worst song.

I also dislike The Twilight Is My Robe.

Nectar is quite possibly my least favourite Opeth song though - about 2 riffs in it i like.

This is IMO a thread that if you look back or think about ten years in the future you will change your mind.

The older you get ( I know all_sins_undone and I_ain't_play_this I am a geezer to you guys) but the more evolved musically your appreiciation is for music, and the more open minded and accepting to different spins on music you like. When I was 17, Master of Puppets by Metallica was all the rage, and I was a die hard Metallica fan from Kill Em All. Everyone loved Master, but I thought it was polished and overproduced form of a band that in 1986 was the heaviest thing out there next to Slayer and Venom. Four years later, I was sitting in my dorm room one night, and I threw in Master, and that all changed for me. I found it quite brilliant, but it was not Metallica that had changed, I looked inside and saw that it was me.

You kids are lucky today that you have the great music that you do, and not the bullshit that I had to put up in my teenage years.

Ratt, WASP, Quiet Riot, Y&T, Kix, Grim Reaper and Poison were considered "Metal". Voivod, Slayer, Sodom, Thrust, Anvil, Exciter, Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, Medieval, Venom, Hellhammer (Celtic Frost PROCREATION OF THE WICKED STILL BRINGS ME CHILLS), and Trouble were my favorites then, and everyone thought I was crazy. Be glad this evolution of our favorite music genre is born from metal, and not rock and roll. You guys would all be worring about hairspray and make-up.

All_Sins_Undone... I find it interesting that you don't like the song Closure, but you take your screen name from it. EDIT I misread that, please accept my apology

Ain't changed much.
Now SOAD, Slipknot and FaggotBoy are "metal", I'm 17 and i get criticized for listening to Opeth, Pain of Salvation and the like.

EDIT: actually, All_Sins_Undone said that anyone with a decent taste in music should like that song, so he likes it.

Criticize me all you like people but I actually love SOAD and have done for a long time :) But my music taste goes beyond just metal so meh.

I was always a semi-SOAD fan back even when I was into "nu metal". I have since then grown out of that stage, and have grown a much bigger appretiation for SOAD. This is even more true considering my political views have certainly grown over the years, and I have found SOAD to be very dead on at times.

That paragraph on the back of their self titled album actually fortells alot of shit that is happening today.

And the Amen Corner?!? "Eerie circles on the waters..." just makes the song awesome(period)

100% fucking agreed.

I don't don't find any Opeth song bad or something. I was just going to say the entire Ghost Reveries, but I've found out some things that are interesting to hear yet I was very angry at the moment I listened that record. So I'll keep the benefit of doubt to myself.

Although, one can be The Grand Conjuration.
