Upcoming Album... Anyone worried?

Nothing to be worried about. Really. It's a band, not hemorrhoids :loco:

As long as there's nothing rehashed and nothing too black and white, I don't see how it could disappoint. I mean, one of the best things about listening to a new Opeth album is that there's no way to know what's coming next, when the next passage will come, or how it will all be linked together. Or is that just me?

The new members have some massive shoes to fill, and I'm sure they won't let themselves let anyone down. If that makes sense.

Hello everyone...just had to say that :p first post

And I think this will be a great album, but that's also what I thought about Metallica's St. Anger. We shall have to wait and see.

This upcoming Opeth album will be telling in terms of the future of Opeth imo. Here are some of my concerns. Peter had some of the most inspiring and emotional guitar solos. Not to mention the great person he is, and he was truly special when it came to the connection he made with fans. The loss of Peter is quite devistating to say the least.

Will Lopez have any involvement with the upcoming album? Axenrot is a great death metal drummer, but, is he the right fit for opeth?

Also, has the grind of nearly constant touring of the world jepordize Opeth's desire?

And on top of all that, a majority of Opeth fans have become really annoying.

Fingers Crossed.

Every Opeth album has something about it that is different from every other Opeth album, be it Blackwater Park, Ghost Reveries, or Damnation.

I'm sure they'll come up with something grand and inspired like they always seem to do, but one way or another, all the Opeth nerds are gonna find some way to accuse them of the stupidist shit. The fanboy business is a dangerous one my friends.

for fucks sake, can some dumb fucks please stop saying "opeth fanboys are annoying" ftlog. who really gives a shit? listen to the music because of the music, not because you once visited their official forum and saw a thread titled "selling on ebay: mikaels toenail clippings". fuck me. some of you are like brain dead fucks who can type.

/end FUCKING rant

*pants*

(end product of reading too many shit complaining threads and not posting angrily in them)

I dunno, guys. I don't think they can pull it off. The addition of Åkesson and Axenrot, apparently rock and metal musicians, seems to kill all chances of a decent reggae album.

In Mikael we trust. No matter what obstacles might come to his path towards the ultimate ultimatum of Opeth's eternal glory, he'll (presumably) make it.

Mike's solos get old, as most of them use the same formulas and actually a lot of the same part repeated in almost every solo he does... What was special about Peter is that he added that extra dynamic, and his solos were always pretty fresh. I couldn't pin a formula on him for the most part. But seeing as how Mr. A-with-a-circle-over-it was in Arch Enemy, he should be able to pull out some great shredding solos.... but as for the emotion in solos of Opeth, I don't know if we'll see too much of that anymores... At this point if Mike tried doing blues solos again like on Hours of Wealth, they would just sound recycled... Not trying to bash the guy as he's a very competent musician, he just doesn't have the best solo style.

And that's all I've got to say about that...

I'm not worried. I understand Mike does most of the writing anyway. It might be cool for him to have some new presence in the band inspire him to write something different.

The simple truth is I liked Opeth a lot more before they became so widly recognized.

then you are NOT a true fan. It shouldn't matter who else likes them. I dont give a rats ass who likes them. I listen and enjoy their music and that is good enough for me.

You are obviously an image conscious moron, who thinks he is better than others.
