Fuck cars. There was a time when we all got on trains and buses and the choice to drive a car to the city limits to buy Chinese junk at Walmart didn't exist. Fucken city planners. Why are humans so stupid?

Can you imagine the difference we could have made in the world, had we put the resources into alternative energy that we we've put and we're going to put towards trying to conquer and control what would essentially be a sandbox if not for their oil resources?

don't know how it is in your neck of the woods, but in NY as great a system it is (as far as the network grid is concerned) the Public Transport system is something that most NY'ers would tell you they hate.
shit in the last few years I can drive faster to any place in NY than taking public transport ... this was not the case just a mere decade ago ... not sure what happened.

well, a car is faster here, but most people use the transit system anyway. I think there is something like a 60-70% ridership rate in Berlin? That leaves the streets pretty free for the rich, old, lazy and the people whose job it is to drive.

I think I remember hearing somewhere that about 30-40% of Berliners.... don't own a car, and 15-20% don't have a drivers license. its just not needed.

With 140 lb-ft, it was a nice engine for the times. Something wierd happened to the drive wheel and Nissan mechanics couldn't even fix it. He had to scrap an otherwise perfectly good car. Stupid Nissans.

I was totally in love with Nissan Stanzas in high school.

I was also totally in love with the big breasted princess who used to let me drive hers.

Years later I attempted fornication with her but was unsuccessful due to The Crimson Tide, however I did fondle her fondleables most of the remembered portion of the night, before I had to flee home with a giant case of the beer shits.

The story was later recanted when I found out she was getting married, and I, ridiculously drunk, yelled "I'm gonna go to that wedding, and say I SUCKED ON THEM TITTIES!!!" like 400 times (in a row).

So I toyed with the idea of starting a new thread, entitled "I bought a new car (the "I no longer wanna be like Gugs" thread)..." but immediately thought better of it. After all, old threads are like debut albums around these parts; they're always preferred, even if they're inferior (or unless you have a limited demo).

So I ended up with the 2008 GLI (in the white, as pictured below), with a the DSI transmission. It's a 36 month lease, 15,000 miles per year, $1,300 down (which include the first payment), and a monthly lease payment around $380. Obviously, I really like this car. However, time will tell. I suspect it's going to be a ton of fun to drive.

LOL. Actually, it's the first car I ever owned in white. However, none of the other colors really did it for me. And apparently VW's marketing department agrees, as all of the photos for the car are in white.
