The Official Movie Thread

Bridesmaids - Okay, so I rented this because I think Kristen Wiig is sexy.

What ? are you serious.

The Grey was good. Not quite as good as I expected, but I definitely built that movie up in my mind for some reason. Worth seeing in the theater for sure.

Our Idiot Brother - Okay I guess but really couldn't tell if he was Lebowski happy-go-lucky or just mostly a tard.

Bad Teacher - Meh.

Paranormal Activity 3 - Same formula as the other two. As usual, there's at least one scene that totally hairs me out.

Melancholia - this is one of those movies where while you're watching it, you think "damn, this is really slow and depressing".. but the next day, after having digested it, "damn, that was really well-crafted and insightful after all".

also, Kirsten Dunst must be commended for this because you get pretty annoyed with her during the film but later realize that she acted her role extremely well.

Grave Encounters- a Ghost Adventures type doc film that turns really bad for the crew. Pretty much really bad all together!

Black Swan- don't get what all the buzz was about with this film. Could have been much better with more realistic twists and turns.

the Eagle- epic Roman Legion goods with a great storyline and excellent landscapes / visuals...spoiled only by lame lead acting performances.

Paranormal Activity 3 - Same formula as the other two. As usual, there's at least one scene that totally hairs me out.

*brootal spoilers*

I liked that they actually went full on witch coven and burning pentagram in the yard with this one.
I thought it was the best of the three hands down.

And the scene where she answers the door, no ones there, comes back and all the furniture is missing from the kitchen, then crashes to the floor from the ceiling.... I nearly jumped out of my seat in the theater.

I can't believe those Paranormal Activity movies pull in millions of dollars.

yeah Tom Hardy is pretty great in that. I think it tries just a little too hard though to be the 21st century Clockwork Orange. otherwise, great film

Tom Hardy is an extremely under-rated actor. I would say (if he gets the right parts) he could be mentioned with men like Daniel Day Lewis.

When this guy plays Bane in the new Batman everybody will know his name in 3 months. He's going to kill it!

PS I always thought Daniel Day Lewis should have played the Joker. Imagine the way he would adapt and develop a character that dynamic. It would have been monumental.

speaking of Daniel Day Lewis, I'm interested to see him in Spielberg's Lincoln film. It'll be nice to see DDL not play a villain (even though he makes a damn good one)

The Woman in Black was a fucking awesome ghost story. I actually cant believe how much I liked it.

It's bleak, it's desperate and depressing throughout. There's no real blood or gore... Radcliffe does a pretty good job if utterly fearless through the events happening. They sort of over do "jump scares" but there's plenty of scary shit that happens slowly and bizarre imagery.

And at the end of the movie... everyone knows what's about to happen... but still... fuck. Only death is real.

It's a little annoying that it's rated pg-13 though... Those young harry potter fans weren't ready for this movie. it's the first time I've ever actually heard people screaming in the theater and getting up and leaving.

Saw the True Grit remake with Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon. I enjoyed it up until about the last 3 minutes. The ending was a real downer.
