The Official Movie Thread

Rampage (1987) - Criminally underseen Friedkin flick. Wasn't actually released untl 5 years after it was filmed. Of coruse it's not on DVD (legally anyways). In a humorous twist of fate it's got Reese from The Terminator trying to get a man named Reece sentanced to death. Pretty raw in parts, Alex McArthur is straight up bone chilling as the blood drinking serial killer. He bears a striking resemblance to Richard "Night Stalker" Rameriz.

My latest downloads, all great submarine films:

Das Boot
Crimson Tide
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
K.19 - The Widowmaker
The Hunt for Red October

lol here's a lame trailer of a movie from my country. both lead actresses are pretty hot though, cuz they're half-breeds

Had a full day of Mafia the other day with some classics. Casino (my personal favorite), Goodfellas, and The Godfather.

I personally enjoy Casino over Goodfellas, most likely because Tony Spilotro was a bad ass haha.

I've been watching a hefty amount of trash cinema lately. Here are some of the low-budget gems I've been enjoying the shit out of.

Night of the Demon (1980)
Attack of the Beast Creatures
They Don't Cut the Grass Anymore
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
Nightmares in a Damaged Brain
City of the Living Dead
Sorority House Massacre
Rocktober Blood
Demons

LOL at "I Don't Cut the Grass Anymore." Please tell me that is about a rogue angry man who murders people from his porch and has to defend his porch with an incredible amount of guns and bombs from the army.

It's actually a lot more ridiculous than that, believe it or not haha. It's about two psycho gardeners who butcher and mutilate yuppies with cheesy, campy extremely unrealistic gore effects. It had a budget of less than a $1000 and has some of the most hilarious over-acted dialogue I've ever seen.

Just watched 127 hours...Heard mixed reviews so I decided to see for myself...Had some slow moments, but I expected it based on the premise of the movie...Overall I thought it was a good, but dont think Ill be seeing it again.

I'm gonna check out Taken 2 tomorrow. already got my ticket.

the first one seemed to me to have a hole in the plot

if i'd been directing, i would have left it as is, but i would have added a scene in the begining where the group of kidnappers is doing re-con, secretly observing a group of females, where the kidnappers already know the american girl's family is broke before they decide which girl to kidnap, where the kidnapping is not random, they are kidnapping the specific girl that they already know is broke, this way, it would be a whole hell of a lot scarier because you would already know that they're not wanting a ransom before the scene with the girl's father on the phone with his daughter's kidnapper, also it would make the diologue in that scene more dramatic, but with out the kidnappers already knowing she's broke before they kidnap her, the plot just doesn't feel right to me, since they didn't already know ahead of time that she was broke, i spend the whole fucking movie wondering what would have happened if they'd accidently kidnapped the richest female in the city? what if TMZ knew she'd been kidnapped before the police did?
very distracting hole-in-the-plot for me

just finished watching Kurosawa's The Bad Sleep Well. Having seen Seven Samurai, Throne of Blood and Yojimbo, this is probably my favorite of his with Yojimbo being a close second. The theme of corporations getting away with whatever they want is especially relevant. Toshiro Mifune also looked like one dapper badass...like a Japanese Gregory Peck.

avengers was awesome
so awesome in fact
that i went to the dollar-theater to see it again on the big screen just last night
