i'm reading some of this dude and I honestly can't say I know how he feels about most films. he talks shit about marginally OK hollywood films while ranking shit films quite highly.

Shilling for Diabolique again but seriously read this, A Hidden Leprosy Gnawing Our Vitals: Transgression, Incest, and Bertolucci’s La Luna
i can't remember the details anymore but i remember watching this vid.
and posted this comment:
the thing that's confusing people is the shaman (the one who performs the exorcisms). i think he's clearly good up to the point when the ritual is interrupted by the father before it can be completed - it certainly isn't the interruption of that ritual which causes the japanese stranger to become vulnerable but the ritual itself (as it starts happening way before the interruption takes place). however, i think the interruption of the hex is what causes the shaman to turn bad, and everything he does after that is at the behest of the devil.
I watched Baskin a few days ago, along with The Wailing, a Korean horror film. Both were very strong, I thought. Baskin had a surreal quality to it that was so strange, but made it enjoyable to watch. The scene when all the police officers were singing in the van... so weird, haha.
It actually surprised me that the lady turned out to be good. I swore she wasn't. But I think there was clues to her being good though I.e her wearing all white and stuff.
