Watching this one finally. Wasn't a huge fan of A Touch of Sin so I'm going in with weird expectations.

This was a way better film than A Touch of Sin, liked it a lot. Zhao Tao is amazing and truly carried the whole thing for me, along with the scenery. I feel like maybe I've seen her before but I don't know what.

Watched that Bruce Willis Death Wish remake, about as subpar as I was expecting but the violence (when it was violent) was fucking brutal, pretty fucking graphic.

I read your review beforehand so I went in expecting to see Bruce slaughter dozens of black and brown people.

Edit: I should have known it was going to be meh, if Bruce had slaughtered minorities like you implied you'd have given it at least a 3.5/5.

clearly you just don’t understand eli roth’s subtlety

i feel like the only way to enjoy it at all is as a pisstake of the original, as an action movie it’s just lobotomised garbage (honestly willis’ performance is like jack nicholson in the cuckoo’s nest post-shock treatment, must be the most low effort performer in hollywood at this point), maybe some of that is intentional if i’m being generous. some h/c lefties i follow absolutely love that movie but i fall way short of seeing it as some kind of genius satire even if there are a few smart/funny ideas.
