For some reason most modern kpop and jpop just sounds really American to me. The production values, the beats, in some cases even the accents don't sound that different from what I hear in passing on the radio. Although I'm actually liking that Gain song so I dunno. Lately I've been exploring some of the quirkier 80s Japanese pop and new wave bands and they better meet what I expect out of Asian artists of those styles.

Like Yapoos; just discovered them, but their first album is awesome. Apparently it's a concept album about the life of a sex android or something.

Like, twenty seconds in I swear they did Pokemon Red/Blue fainting noises a decade before the fact. Cutting edge, man.
 


What in the fuck? Kids break into a pool and mess around then get attacked by insectoid alien-creatures until one escapes and is killed by looking at some Lovecraftian giant?

New Army of the Pharaohs is out. This is their second album this year.

I'm feeling it. So far, not my favorite by them, but it may be a grower. Celph Titled remains fucking untouchable, though.
