The "What Are You Doing This Moment" Thread

Yeah, but preferably by a serious party and not a one-subject-party that doesn't look at what's good for people as a whole and targets certain groups of citizens. There's a problem where politicians are too PC to criticize immigration policy, and people turn to parties like these since no one else dares to bring this question up.

However Geert Wilders and FVV are anti-Islam and pro-Christian, among other things he wants to ban the Koran. Religious freedom should exist all over Europe.

Well almost every American has an immigrant heritage to start with :p
Plus the whole American dream is much based around immigration and new opportunities, melting pot or salad bowl or what you want to call it.
European countries on the other hand have these perceived ancient identities that some feel need "protection", and every outsider is a "threat".

Are you versed in European History? Do you know what it was like for conquered European countries under Ottoman rule?

Heh Sweden was allied with the Ottoman Empire for a time against Russia and our king lived there for six years so yeah I've read quite a bit about it. Modern day immigration hardly compares to that kind of conquest though, people just want a home were they can live in peace.

Actually it's a known thing a lot of immigrants from certain countries move to, for example, the UK in order to make money through crime. The decrease in crime in certain areas of Romania, along with the increase in London, and the identities of some criminals proved it.

Not denying that. But there is always many law obedient immigrants for every criminal one, but naturally bad behaviour gets more attention than good behaviour, that's how papers get sold. You can't sacrifice the good majority just to get to the rotten individuals, that's just not how it works.
With that said I'm of the opinion that Europe should close it's borders until it can handle immigration in a proper way.

I'm grading exams right now for the philosophy of science course that I'm a teaching assistant for. I've been making separate piles according to what letter grade I would be likely to assign for each of them. There is already a large pile of "lower than a B" exams, and a rather small pile of "good job, you get an A" exams. This is an interesting experience and it's definitely making me realize how much more I know about this subject than these kids, which is a nice way to put things in perspective because I constantly feel like I need to know a whole lot more.

It's actually a pleasure to read the A-level exams. I've even managed to put some (female) faces to some (female) names and I have to admit that I am developing a slight crush on these intelligent females. :heh:

Put it in their brain!

Disappointed about the world series.

Why? The Phillies played pretty bad... and they had no hope against Rivera. It seemed pretty straightforward from the beginning.

On the bright side, Ryan Howard's wiffage generated enough wind energy to lower energy costs in the eastern united states.
