The "What Are You Doing This Moment" Thread

I'm pretty pissed off about a lot of things at the moment.

I don't know if any of you have read any literature on things like slaves being taken from the British isles, right up till the foundation of the slave triangle, or on the Ottoman conquest of Europe. I have and I am sick to the back teeth of reading some miserable corrupt stinkard's little tag on note that such occurrence shouldn't be put into the fore when a discussion on 'white guilt' or other such shite is being mentioned, and that instead these event's should referred to in a similar way to the way the relative late advancement of European civilisation society is. So it is used to argue against white supremacists instead of against bigoted Black and Asian people. That's just so fucking typical.

Oh and I've noticed every alleged intelligent person thinks that the world will shortly miraculously fall into being a secular and democratic world state. Erm, how can I put this..... no it won't.

Actually I see a polarizing trend, where secularism and extremism are becoming more firmly established, between Europe and the Middle East, and within the USA.

I think it's going to become a bigger problem in Europe than the US. Despite (or perhaps because of) having immigrants from all over the world, a stranger-hostile party has never received any significant power in the US. The British National Party has a couple of seats in the European parliament, Dutch PVV too. We have a nationalist party in Sweden which is similar to these parties and its gaining more and more ground. The best thing to do would be to switch to a first past the post system like in Britain to exclude these kind of parties from a national level.

Republican party? I'm talking about parties which border racism, and while I'm sure a lot of racists vote for the Republicans their agenda is hardly to throw out every immigrant in the country.

Checking out The Metal Sessions. This is an excellent resource for metal musicians. I fucked up my throat doing vocals this weekend and this is helping me find the right way to do it.

Being up at fucking four in the morning. I'm gonna finish up 1984, do two projects, then probably play Super Smash Bros for the rest of the night.

Finished the book, did both projects, no Super Smash Bros. Fun night.

edit: Just got back from a club at school. Twas fun. Going to do a boring Spanish assignment then be lazy for the rest of the day.

While I think the BNP are a silly party, I think the though process that leads to taking measures to block their ability to gain power needs to be looked at.

If a large proportion of a population think that immigration control needs to be addressed, then it needs to be addressed. The best way to avoid extremists getting into power is to avoid having a group of people who live sheltered lives and have silly idealist beliefs on issues that actually affect the population day to day. Also, no party, or individual who does not believe in the principle of a sovereign nation state, should ever govern a nation state. The reason being is that they will act on behalf of people who did not elect him, possibly against the wishes and interests of those who did.

Also Geert Wilders Party are very different to the BNP. The BNP are a direct continuation from the British Union of Fascists, which was the British Equivalent of the German National Socialist (Nazi) party before world war two. Obviously, the BNP's support of Israel is a complete turnaround in position that is due to public opinion being critical of Islam rather the Judaism. Geert Wilders supports Israel and always has and has essentialy no policies that discriminate on the grounds of 'genetic race' (unlike the BNP)

Yeah, but preferably by a serious party and not a one-subject-party that doesn't look at what's good for people as a whole and targets certain groups of citizens. There's a problem where politicians are too PC to criticize immigration policy, and people turn to parties like these since no one else dares to bring this question up.

However Geert Wilders and FVV are anti-Islam and pro-Christian, among other things he wants to ban the Koran. Religious freedom should exist all over Europe.

Well almost every American has an immigrant heritage to start with :p
Plus the whole American dream is much based around immigration and new opportunities, melting pot or salad bowl or what you want to call it.
European countries on the other hand have these perceived ancient identities that some feel need "protection", and every outsider is a "threat".

Are you versed in European History? Do you know what it was like for conquered European countries under Ottoman rule?

Heh Sweden was allied with the Ottoman Empire for a time against Russia and our king lived there for six years so yeah I've read quite a bit about it. Modern day immigration hardly compares to that kind of conquest though, people just want a home were they can live in peace.
