The "What Are You Doing This Moment" Thread

Thinking of a one off campaign before we start a main D&D group at the house.

We got high the other night and started following a Bob Ross video, and here is my mid progress and finished product

Damn, you guys are making me worried. I am going to a job interview today with a good chance of getting the job, but the only problem is that it is a night shift position. I used to volunteer nights as an EMT so I know that I can do it, but I wasnt doing enough hours to have to permanently alter my sleep schedule. Im not sure if I could do it for more than a year or two.

There is a lot of factors that come into play deciding how a person actually handles working night shift. Medical studies here are showing that everyone that does it long term does have some adverse side effects later in life but what those effects might be are very wide and varied. For some the long term effects are only shitty sleeping habits that are hard to break, but there is medication for that, its the same medication doctors prescribe to some people starting shiftwork who need their body clock to adjust quickly. But for others there is deeper issues that may not arise for a decade or more after shift work stops. But the thing is none of it is guaranteed to hit every person and there are things an individual can do to make things easier for themselves while doing shift work. I don't regret all my years of night shift for a number of reasons, getting me off the shitty band circuit and the promise of decent money was a big motivator, but if I had my time again I would definitely think more about when I slept and how I slept while I was working those long hours.

@CiG
there's this recessive-gene medical condition where sunlight makes a person sleepy
i think @HadesRagnazrath might have this condition,
which should be fine if he gets some sort of nightshift job that lets him go to sleep at about sunrise

No he's just a lazy piece of shit with no responsibilities or life structure.

Reactions: The Butt
Does anyone else drink way too many fucking energy drinks to keep going? I bought a tub of G Fuel for a breakfast drink and usually have 1-2 more throughout a day depending on how bad it is. I switched to sugar free varieties because the sugar crash just isn’t worth it. Bang is pretty good. Ultra Paradise Monster and the 300 mg Caffeine Rockstars are also acceptable.

i drink mtn dew like nonstop

a person's default sleeping rhythm is determined/controlled by sunrise
some people like @HadesRagnazrath naturally get sleepy at sunrise
some people like @Slammed and @CiG just naturally get up at sunrise

i could see there being evolutionary reasons for that or some shit

i dont think i have a condition or anything but i get hyped up at night...its the one time i have where i can do what i want without anyone bothering me. i also just generally feel better at night. even during the school year

Night shift is horrible, dont recommend it except out of desperation

sitting here bored as fuck. i want caffeine and or nicotine but were out of sodas and i usually dont vape unless my parents are alseep

And your beer has been drunk. I am still somewhat hungover from celebrating last night, lol. Apparently it is really hard to get a job when you are relatively inexperienced in your field and have a 5 (I guess now it is 6) year gap in relevant experience (long story, but ive explained it here before). Fortunately my brother's girlfriend's mother used to be the head boss at this company and sent recommendation letters to some of the lab managers for me because she loves me. I almost had the job in February (I think I was bragging about getting a job around that time), but then the company unexpectedly put a freeze on the hiring. I interviewed with 3 other departments in the company in the meantime, each time getting out-selected. I finally got a call last week from HR that the guy who wanted to hire me before brought my name up as a potential applicant and wanted me to come in for an interview. At the interview, he eventually told me that he is going to hire me, and I imagine that his decision was already pre-determined since he confirmed back in February that he was going to hire me.

It's for a medical technologist position btw. Everything from testing for AIDS to hepatitis to vitamin D.

Congrats on the job. The fact that you already know night shift can have an effect on you puts you in a better position than many. There is good and bad in every job, find the good in yours and night shift wont be as much of an annoyance as it seems from the outside.

Nice, have some mushrooms i've been thinking about doing recently but just haven't really found myself in the right headspace for that shit. haven't tripped in probably 5 years or so.

I get up anywhere between 8am and 4pm, but usually somewhere in between. Partly due to health issues, but partly because I'm almost as lazy as @HadesRagnazrath. But I can afford to be - doing software development self-employed on a contractor basis. But I do need to do a little bit more than the minimal amount I've been doing or I will eventually go broke.

I saw a 3rd live show in 3 days last night (and technically 3 different cities, but only the 2nd one was a decent drive away). There's an all ages BYO venue run in a private function manner here in my hometown where I'm stuck living again until early next year. Great friendly people. I had insomnia due to taking prednisone or bourbon & coke or the combo of both. Slept from about 6am to 12:30 but didn't really feel awake until 6pm today.

coming down off butane

i forton how bad these longering affects were, i cant type for shit and i dont give a shit

i feel all nauseas, hot, cant think hands are shakin etc

butane in mid doses is definately not worth the comedown
