The "What Are You Doing This Moment" Thread

sure you will, Abu;)

Happy to take anything you're willing to bet that I have no Sri Lankian in me at all :p

The Chinese were actually some of the earliest migrants to Australia. Came here in the late 18th century to mine for gold.

Yeah that's true, they didn't predate the poms sending their filth and scum over here but the Chinese were happy to off load boats and boats of them to make it rich in our mines, or more so make those who owned the mines rich and pay the workers a pittance.

Practicing more knots
And I made the dumb mistake of not actually learning the application of most of these. So could you help with some general applications to some, like the bowline, figure 8, sheet bend, etc?

A lot of knots can be used for various applications. I remember once having to study a book for scouts which showed a variety of knots and what they best suited. A quick skim of the net doesn't show anything like that online, although I'm sure it's somewhere. In the absence of such a book try a site like this, https://www.outdoorlife.com/photos/...l-knots-how-tie-20-knots-will-keep-you-alive/
It's far from a definitive list but it will give you an idea of what some of those knots are good for then you can decided which of your applications best suit the knots.
