The "What Are You Doing This Moment" Thread

Let me see if I remember...the app was a long time ago and I didn't really spend much time on it.
Social Sciences, I think.

What are you in, by the way?
Also, what's the deal with the schools? I'm in New School apparently, had no idea what that was about.
I am in Humanities. I am also History specialist (major equivalent), but you select that after first year. Also do you mean you got into New College? That would be your dorm/what administration you deal with. The college system is basically U of T's way of segmenting the population of the school so the Catholics and rich people can have their own stupid rules. I am in University College (the best). I don't know much about New College.

trying to get the fuck out of this squadron. and if i can fuck them over in the process, that would be great too...
~gR~

just saw on the news that people are selling/buying land on the moon, ridiculous.
At last a new bubble to invest in.

Hmm.
If I end up going I'll have to find out more about this. I think I avoided the Catholic one but I may be stuck with rich people.

IIRC you sign up for your college after you accept their offer to go to the university in general but I don't remember completely. The college also has to accept you and from what you have said of your financial situation I don't think you would get into Trinity (the rich one) anyway. Not that you'd want to, they are insufferably lame.

As much as I'd like to fight for my school though, if you got into the program you wanted at McGill, it'd probably be better for you to go there.

Okay.
Yeah, I'm gonna call them tomorrow to find out what the deal is with Life Sciences and what majors I could do, but it looks like I'll have less freedom than I would at McGill. Really good school - less freedom vs. school with renowned department in my expected major + more freedom + slightly higher reputation - slightly colder I think + really really nice campus adds up to McGill.
Someone told me that they knew someone last year who was totally unqualified and got into Harvard and wasn't the child of faculty/really rich. If I got into Harvard I'd go to Harvard. It would be funny, because I know this Korean guy who's fixated on Harvard and works insanely hard and has a near-perfect GPA and a 2380 on the SATs and took a shitload of APs and everything but has no extra-curriculars and he probably won't get in because they get like 3 million people like that every year. He got into Cornell, though, with a merit based scholarship. Badass.
It would suck to go to Harvard, though, because I'd live at home studying my ass off for four years.

As far as I know Life Sciences is like biology, chemistry and that sort of stuff. I don't know what you mean by more freedom, unless you mean the 18 rather than 19 drinking age, which is pretty minor imo. I'd recommend a visit here at least. I don't think you can go wrong either way tbh.

My dad got deployed today. 5 months on a navy ship. It's a humanitarian operation in the poor Caribbean.

Quite sad..
