why do black metallers hate modern Black metal?

satyricon is ok. i dont even consider them one of the main 2nd wave. and satyr is so full of himself these days and his music sucks.

gorgoroth bored me.

Emperor, Mayhem, Enslaved, Immortal, Darkthrone are the main 2nd wavers. For me.

Yeah, forgot Burzum. It's easy to forget Burzum.
I think Satyricon's underrated, Satyr's got the best black metal rasp I've ever heard, the music supports it too, I guess everyone's favorite 2nd wave bands are really a matter of preference. And yes I forgot to list Burzum, but they're up there by Darkthrone in my 2nd wave favorites right below Emperor and Satyricon.

The one thing I dislike about Burzum CD's is there's too many ambient songs, I've consiered buying Filosofem(I probably will, love Jesus's Tod nd Dunkelheit) but half the CD is ambient stuff, same thing with the S/T/Aske EP, a couple ambient pieces that would sound goo with vocals. But it's just a minor problem, I still plan on getting the Burzum S/T.

And buying a CD for 20 $ with only 4 real songs is weird, makes me wonbder whether I got my money's worth, but I will think I spent it right when I get Filosofem. :)

I don't see why there should be a reason to hate modern black metal if you are all ready into the older material. It becoming more expansive and more atmospheric but that's not a good reason to hate it.

By now Enslaved is only "black metal" in the sense that Opeth is death metal, but they're pretty much the only black metal I find remotely interesting, along with a few other odd bands like Bathory, Ulver, and Summoning. The vocal style and the underproduction fetishism combine to make a genre that really doesn't appeal to me.

Filosofem was recorded in March 1993. He's been in prison since 1993 and has probably never heard of Strid. You are a fucking idiot. Cheers. :)

at least i'm not a fat american geek :D

Strid was still recorded BEFORE Filosofem and apparently they're both from norway. :p

Half the tracks on Filosofem were written in 1991 or 1992, and all of the tracks were written before Strid was recorded. Strid didn't even form as a BAND until 1993, so it's obvious who was influencing who.

I didn't know proving somebody completely full of shit made you both sky rocket in weight and make you a geek, though, I confess that I happen to have been born in the country generally known as 'America,' which honestly isn't much of an insult to anybody who has the least amount of maturity.
