why do black metallers hate modern Black metal?

Man, I love A LOT of black metal, I guess it is a shame I havn't picked up and Immortal yet haha, which album should I get?

my first death metal bands that I loved were suffocation, morbid angel, death, deicide, nile, cannibal corpse, behemoth and then immolation and dismember shortly after. Not exactly gothenburg pop metal

I just can't imagine what is the appeal of something like immortal.
Same here except a few different bands, my first death metal bans were Six Feet Uner, Morbid Angel, and Nile, I never got into the melodic stuff.

nothing is essential, it's a matter of taste damnit.

it's so hard to put in teen's head.

satyricon is ok. i dont even consider them one of the main 2nd wave. and satyr is so full of himself these days and his music sucks.

gorgoroth bored me.

Emperor, Mayhem, Enslaved, Immortal, Darkthrone are the main 2nd wavers. For me.

Yeah, forgot Burzum. It's easy to forget Burzum.

Pure Holocaust is a classic. your ears need checked, cause you've been listening to too much polished prog/death stuff.

Fucking fantastic post there man, you've hit the nail right on the head, and it applies to many people.

The common mistake imo is that people approach Black Metal expecting a polished and pristine product that they get from other styles - technicality, crystal clear production etc etc, that's not what Black Metal is about.

For the most part, the so-called Black Metal bands who DO engage this side of music and bring it into Black Metal don't realise that they are actually less respected because they pollute the what Black Metal is about by introducing a "listening for pleasure" product.

Not to sound cliche, but the true Black Metal enthusiast stays away from these attributes (although, there are rare expections like Kataxu for example) because the music is only part of the experience.

Take Darkthrone for instance. 15 years on, and they still sound more Black Metal than 80% of other bands do, with shithouse production, simple bar chords and minimalist punk influenced style overall. Darkthrone is still achieving so much of what so many current day bands are continuously trying to achieve, and they do so with little to no effort.

I hated Darkthrone for a long time. But I have to admit, as much as I did know, that once I embraced Darkthrone, everything else fell into place. They represent the raw foundation of second wave, and post second wave Black Metal. From Culto's glass cutting vocals, Fenriz's garage styled drumming, through to their alarmingly dark and anarchic chord progressions, there simply is no better place to commence an aural study of Black Metal.

I don't have problems with raw production - burzum is one of my favorite BM artists. My complaint with something like pure holocist is the shit songwriting as well as OVERLY raw production

anyways, I can't listen to BM for very long but it is a very nice contrast and quite a great experience when I go from burzum to something like joe satriani

Pure Holocaust isn't that raw..... you can clearly hear everything..... there are bands much more rawer.... like Darkspace.

Actually there was only one member, and it is Jayson Sherlock (Mortification, Paramaecium). I undertand your anger. There there. But the music was

Two awesome white bands... Scrolls of the Megilloth is a great death metal classic...

the best Immortal's album is so far Battles In The North...

Pure Holocaust is the last one on my list and Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism was the 1st album that i've heard... awesome too
