Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats - Blood Runner
Link is broken in the USA. Based on the primitive live link I found, I'll give it a 7/10. Would like to hear a better recording though.
Miscreance - Alchemy
Really cool. You can tell these guys are inspired by early Atheist and that whole jazz/death/thrash era 8.5/10 just needs better production and some polish.
Yob - Ablaze
I'm a big fan of Clearing the Path to Ascend. There's only so much stoner doom I can take, but now and then it sounds perfect for my mood. This is not one of those times. This didn't grab me as much as their previous album. Art didn't help either 5/10
Sacral Rage - Necropia
Pretty cool, I probably would have liked this more in the early 2000s. Just not a fan of this vocal style. Guitars seem forced to fit a section even when maybe they don't at times. The more I hear of it the more average it seems, was more unique at first 6/10
Mooncitadel - Dance of a Dark Pagan Spell (The Dreaming Equinox)
Oh this kind of music, never really been a fan. Windir was ok I guess. This is not Windir 3/10
Chemicaust - Vanished
Nothing too special. Heard 1000 bands like this, probably literally. It's thrash though, and the guitar solo didn't suck 7/10 Something seems off in the recording mix.
Sigh - Homo Monini Lupus
Never fully got Sigh, they're weird, but not my kind of weird. Something about them seems disingenuous, rushed, and the vocals are not my fave. Not a fan of the drummer either tbh 6/10 I didn't hate it but I could do without ever hearing it again.
Beyond Creation - Surface's Echoes
Another band I've heard 1000 versions of, nothing stands out. Would much rather just listen to Ne Obliviscaris, better musicianship and vocals imo. These guys aren't bad just wouldn't be my first choice to seek out 7.6/10
Teleport - Beholder of the Silent Sea
Been following the band since the Galactic Usurper demo. Not my favorite release by the band, I liked their more Vektor influenced material. They seem to be adding more black metal influences but it is listenable. Still waiting for a full length from them. 7.5/10
Communion - Secret Rites
This is garbo. Very little redeeming about it. Main riff is annoyingly simplistic and bad 2/10
Azusa - Interstellar Islands
This is free, loose, experimental, compelling. I like the contrasting female vocal styles, and the grooves. This is solid expression of emotion, talent, and freeform composition without jarring the listener, but pulling us along through the changes 9.5/10 A ton of forward momentum in this.
Blood Curse - Isabelle
Terribly mediocre overall, and annoying chorus. eh. 4/10
Madder Mortem - Stumble On
Here's a working link for this
here
It's interesting, reminds me of Avatarium. Not really feeling it at this moment, but I could see getting into this vibe in the right circumstances 8/10 why not, good vocals and all
Manacle - Fight for Your Life
I totally get why someone would like this a lot, I would have been a fan in the 80's/early 90's for sure. It's solid for what it is, just nothing new. I'll go 8/10 for effort
