Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats - Blood Runner – I was expecting stoner butt metal, not Iron Maiden produced by James Ferraro, this was painful at first but it’s already growing on me, 7/10
Miscreance – Alchemy – total Atheist worship but totally awesome, 9/10
Yob – Ablaze – reasonably good for modern atmosludge until it starts getting overtly sentimental and lame around the last two minutes, 5/10
Sacral Rage – Necropia – disappointing album for me, a big step backwards stylistically from their nimble-yet-thick tech-thrashing debut into a sort of shiny USPM, this song typifies it as well as any, not bad but whatever, 5/10
Mooncitadel - Dance of a Dark Pagan Spell (The Dreaming Equinox) – I had to look up the year in which this late-90s piece of shit was released only to remember once again that I’m stupid, but not as stupid as this song, 1/10
Chemicaust – Vanished – is Vektor old enough now that they have their own retro-thrash followers? although actually once the bridge hits it’s all uphill from there, their drummer is more entertaining than the Vektor one actually, redeemed, 7/10
Sigh - Homo Monini Lupus – generic thrashy shit with Maiden-wannabe melodies with a few gimmicks thrown on, few enough that it took a while to realize I was listening to Sigh or anything with avant-garde pretensions honestly, 3/10
Beyond Creation - Surface's Echoes – decent song, great solo, typical for the genre, 6/10
Teleport - Beholder of the Silent Sea – I enjoyed this EP when I first heard it but this song isn’t doing much for me this time around, too sonically dense, 5/10
Communion - Secret Rites – would’ve preferred a new Communic song, this was just ugly nothing, 3/10
Azusa - Interstellar Islands – prog thrash the way it should be, better vocals than all previous songs on this playlist combined, 8/10
Blood Curse – Isabelle – nice sound and effort but if you’re going to write such a simple 1980 NWOBHM-style song you can at least keep it under 4 minutes, too basic, 4/10
Madder Mortem - Stumble On – a bit too strum-a-strum for me but it’s a nice sound and performance, goes somewhere by the end, 6/10
Manacle - Fight for Your Life – closing the playlist with a great song from a band I’ve never heard of, very nice, vintage feeling but the guitarwork had a little more going on, singer was squeaky in a genuine way, and it wasn’t afraid to close with a brief and sudden climax, 9.5/10
