NF: - Very very strange. I've just had to take in some seriously heavy information from my mum, I'm still struggling to take it in.
If anyone's seen a picture of me without hair covering half my face, I have a capillary hamaengioma over my left eye which has resulted in my eye appearing very squinty and having no power of traction whatsoever. A friend of my mum's is an opthomological nurse who has seen me once or twice and told her that as operating is out because of the hamaengionma (an extra set of capillaries), which would cause me to bleed to death, there is a glass-eye shell that can be put over the eye like a contact lens every day, which will move the muscles back into their correct space and correct my tracking. This is huge...after 20 years of having it, I can't quite get into my head that I could have it to some degree fixed, so I could look normal without small children saying 'why's his eye all funny mummy?' when i walk past in the street. I know its nothing to be ashamed of, and I guess I'm good looking without, and it won't restore sight to my left eye, but I'm still trying to register the fact that I could look normal. I'm trying to not get my hopes up though in case it cannot be done.

@dark_jester: how much time do they think it's gonna take to move the muscles back into place? in my opinion you should try it (but that's not such a shocking idea anyway) and allow your hopes to be a little higher: it can be cured, it'll likely be. in the meantime, you can still work on pick-up lines that are at the same time nice comebacks for "why's his eye all funny mummy?"

Apparently its instantaneous: - I put the shell in every morning like a contact lens and it looks like the other eye as soon as it is in. That's what I mean about it being so simple that its hard to take in. After living with it for 20 years, it can be solved by taking five minutes out of my mornings. I'm definitely going for it, I've already got the specialist referral, I've now just got to wait for the waiting list to decrease. Hopefully I'm looking at three-four weeks

We always figured it was something I had to live with, and its a fairly new concept, as within the past five years. I've never seen an eye specialist for the past 8 odd years, and so never came into contact with the knowledge. We still wouldn't know it it wasn't for the fact my mum's friend commented on it and said there was this kind of solution.

so i find out about 40' ago that a course in managing databases that i have to take for my job started about one hour ago. i didn't get any mail from personnel nor phone calls or anything.
not only do i get to miss today's lesson, but i soon find out that i'm stuck to this course for the rest of the week, from 1pm to 4pm, while i have to go to the tax office and pay my dues for translations before next friday. so basically, today is starting to suck big time.
