I prefer to do things openly and I'm not calling people names anymore than anybody else has. Interesting that you post this here rather than message me on Facebook like you usually would, perhaps take your own advice and try to convince me privately rather than save genuine discussion for private messages and opportunistic public condemnation for the GMD.
We've already discussed this privately and agreed that we both feel differently about the issue because I feel that Deron can do what he wants on his own website.
I'm not trying to convince you to do anything. Your methods in this topic are still presumptuous and unlikely to actually make a good case for what you're advocating. Most people won't listen to someone who has already decided in advance to assume things about them and share them publicly.

I'm also going to piggyback off of what has been mentioned by others here and say that you haven't been here long enough to have a historical context of the fact that Deron did used to enforce things more strictly and that this is more of a return to what he did previously than something that is actually new and worth being alarmed by. He has almost closed this entire section on more than one occasion due to such issues.

Meanwhile FD is assuming that the new guy is a Nazi who masturbates over Mein Kampf and both you and she have assumed a whole shitload of things about Deron like that maybe he banned the f-word because he just doesn't like it. Well alarmed was your word in fairness, I'm not alarmed I'm just irritated. But the fact that you're such a sycophant that you think criticising the way the owner of a privately run website does things is something in the realm of the unreasonable means that we won't agree on anything.
Edit: the hypocrisy is that the report function serves the same exact purpose as what I am doing right now, it criticises the owner for not deleting any post featuring the word and in that way makes a suggestion for the owner to do something. I however cannot report the owner.
I've criticized Deron plenty of times for plenty of reasons. I don't really care about this particular thing one way or the other.

The core of my argument is that the list of banned words is on an expansive trend. How does that fall into anything you've just said?
Also, to calling people names, Deron actually started it by calling certain people babies and as an aside, the report function is the literal definition of suggesting the owner of the website do something he may or may not want to do.
Edit: what makes you a sycophant? Well one example would be that you admit you don't care about this particular subject yet here you are defending the single person in the position of power on this website as if you do.

It is indeed an interesting conversation, and I am always perplexed at the social aspect of people who treat the Internet different than they would in real life. Not different necessarily, than if you were with a bunch of friends in a private setting, but in general as in out in public, a workplace, at a concert with tons of people you do not know, shopping, sitting at a table in a restaurant - I just don't see you all using these words as part of your normal vocabulary in general conversation (in a public setting).
But in the very end, for me, if you really step back and think about the accepted definition of the words - the N word is a derogatory word for an African American. The F word is a derogatory word for a gay male. Their core meaning is hateful, bullying, and meant to cause the most verbal harm if you're black and/or a gay male.
We have black and gay people here. I detest bullies. I detest people who use words like that as a weapon. I detest people being hateful to others for the sake of being hateful (especially on the Internet). It's really nothing to do with censorship from my end, but more about not allowing words like that that I am sure people on this very board have encountered in real life settings, and they were meant as a form of ultra hatred. I am all about common courtesy and just being a decent human being to others.
Am I saying that every time those words are used here it's hateful? Absolutely not, probably 80-85% of the time it is in jest. But, this is a community, it's a community of regulars, as well as potential new users.
I've been blackmailed (yes) by users, threatened with lawsuits, harm, server attacked - you name it. All because people didn't get their way for very minimal rules that exist. And as for me, I have thick skin. You can call me a lot of things (and many MANY of you have) and look, you're still here. I get that as admin I am going to get shit on. Comes with the territory. You can Zuck me, call me an asshole, mutherfucker, pussy - all silly but whatever. All I know is I've paid for this site to exist for 14 years, mostly out of pocket, never begged for money from anyone - and really do not ask for much at all.

2 words (maybe a couple more variations, not sure).
And report is a way to bring attention - many here will attest to my response 90% of the time, which is, "Put them on ignore". 99% of the time, they do not, afraid to miss something.

If I report a post because it offends me, it is a suggestion that you; delete the post, shadow-ban the word causing offense, warn the user or ban the user. It is a suggestion by definition and that you don't always act on reports further proves that.
Indeed and what will be the next word? My bet is on "cunt" because it could be construed as a sexist slur. The feeling of being bullied is extremely subjective, I've been called racial slurs on this very site, have you ever once gotten a single report from me, besides the time I reported TechBarb for post spoilers on a TV show I watch?

One of which is already in the coding. Opinions were expressed before, and decisions were already made. Not being able to use a word on a privately owned forum isn't a dealbreaker for me. I come here for music, movies and the occasional discussion. Nudes still posted, stories of buttholes from all over the world are still shared, and all the other charming HBB stories are still shared. It's not a huge deal at all.
