When you have cows barbed wire is the cheapest and easiest option. Solar electric fences are good but barbed wire is more reliable. We used to us a mix of both, electric internal and barbed boundary. Like everything you get used to handling it, but it still fucking hurts.

Worn riggers gloves are the best, brand new ones are as slippery as shit. My brother used to do mines rescue and the gloves they wore were great for rope work, but they were bloody expensive too, I've only got a few pairs left, which sucks since he changed job.

So you recommend rigger gloves? I'm thinking about investing in some sort of glove and better boots - particularly loggers.

We call them Rigger's gloves, not sure if that's their brand name or not. They are yellow leather, non lined, thin gloves but the they need a bit of dirt and grit in the leather to help them grip. They are only about $10 a pair so they aren't unaffordable. The ones my brother used to get were about $60 a pair, but they were good gloves.

I've always worn steel toed boots in the truck, different brands come with different quality, but when logging and timber falling we always wore full lace up steelies that come up the shins and have the material covers to stop wood chips falling down into the boot.

But the 'safety boot' market in this country has such a wide variety of stuff these days you can get just about any style and fit for any purpose, and a good boot can always have cleats added to them for tree walking.

We're just recommended to wear boots with prominent heels so the gaffs can fit against the pit of your boot, that middle part. Mine shifted upward and onto my heel today, making it super uncomfortable.

And that sounds about a good price for gloves! Just gotta get em dirty is all, eh?

Been sitting on my couch like a turd most of the night, bored as fuck of pandemic life.

At least I put an hour into the tax return. Not sure if I'll get a stimulus check (I sure don't need one), but if I do it'll be bigger if they use my 2019 tax info, since my income was lower.

Just did some work, partially out of boredom... on a Sunday. Now listening to a really loud cicada chirping at our front door. I think it's letting us know that the insects are taking over. Ah well, good on them. I'll watch a movie in the meantime.

Thank you forced home isolation I finally got my 5v and 12v power run through the house. No more paying to charge anything from phones to batteries to the kids DS's.

Kinda jealous of you all who get to stay at home. Im still driving 2+ hours a day to go to work since I do medical testing.

Anyways, watched this video of the lost in vegas dudes listening to Sweet Leaf for the first time, and it just brought me back to the first time I heard this godlike song. Hell, who doesn't bang their head while humming out the guitar riff while Ozzy is perfectly nailing the bluesy parts?

My wife works for the government so she's still working and I bundle the kids in the car and take her to work every morning and pick her up to save her catching the bus. It's not a two hour trip but that's my life anyway, I work for home most of the time and watch the kids when they aren't at school. My life hasn't really changed that much because of this isolation....actually it has a little bit because now I'm doing the jobs around the house instead of ignoring them. FUCK what an idiot I am, I've falling into a trap of doing weekend house stuff!

Teaching myself more rope knots just in case I ever needed to use them outside of the regular half hitch or so.


Made an Alpine/Butterfly Loop knot mainly used for isolating worn areas on your rope and can be used for making an anchor for rock climbing or having an advantage on carrying extra loads. Often used with a carabiner.
