The "What Are You Doing This Moment" Thread

Oh man its pretty fucked. Kinda cool though; I get to experience the "real world of state work" so to say. Even if its just on a minor scale such as this.

I've seen huge fucking oaks uprooted and countless other disasters. Its absolutely world changing for me.

gonna be watching some of the magnus carlsen invitational on youtube shortly. it's the most lucrative online chess tournament ever and starts today. it's absolutely stacked with talent; the 8 players include the top 5 in the world, the best blitz player in the world and the best teenager in the world (firouzja, the first super-phenomenon since carlsen). eight different nationalities too: norwegian, french, russian, chinese, japanese, iranian, dutch and american.

it's a round robin where everyone plays everyone, each match is a best of four rapidplay games with a tiebreak 'armageddon match' if it's 2-2--which works kind of like away goals do in football/soccer, where black gets less time on the clock but only needs to draw to get the win, so white has to really go for it. once the round robin is completed the top four will go into a straight knockout.

streaming live on youtube here:

kind of a big deal for the chess world as there'll be more of a spotlight on it than usual just because there's fuck all else to watch at the moment lol

Fuck yeah, I'd watch that. This whole coronavirus thing has helped me achieve a personal best rating too, so I might even be able to pretend to understand the moves.

Brain machine pretty low. Day 6 of these 16 hour shifts working storm work. I've lost the frustration mood and now I'm just care free.

get that paper bubba. Been there on those crazy shifts before. Tired changes to general confusion after a while. If you’re the one driving, stay safe. Energy drink the fuck out of yourself if you need to. Motörhead will ease the brain pain and energize your corpse.

Nah breh I only just drive home. Don't drive any trucks thankfully; scared of that shit. But hell yeah! Actually, been pumping my brain full of slow funk and Wu Tang Clan this week. On my drive back home its been Pink Floyd.

Here's a couple of pictures! I'll take more tomorrow as we get to them

He's trying so goddamn hard to sound like Kurt. Instead, it sounds like him prairie dogging the biggest shit of his life and the only way the SXM crew would allow him to go is to cover a Nirvana song for them.

You rescue trees now? :p

My daughter represented her school at the dawn service for the return and currently servicing armed forces in this country today. Stupid Covid made the actually marches and wreath laying impossible but we had a 'social distancing' street service from about 5am. Nothing quite like a bugle sounding through the dark and foggy streets before the sun rises.
