The German I posted? Yes, that is a German sentence.

It is quite hard to get used to German sentence structure/word order, but not as hard as some languages. It uses the roman alphabet, after all.

Yeah I've done some study of it, but am taking a year of accelerated classroom German starting in September. Two years worth in one, and I'll need it for grad school.

I study by myself up to a few hours a day. I have started with Romanian this month. It seems even more difficult than German.

Starting from scratch (with no experience with languages) I have not gotten very far with German in more than 2 years, just getting somewhere recently after I started spending more time on it.

I'm learning for personal & academic enrichment and future career goals.

edit: Actually I quite regret not taking German until my senior year of college, maybe it would have been cooler to have taken three years of German instead of three years of Japanese

Japanese is more stupid. There's no reason you need (at least) three alphabets including 1000's of Chinese characters

Every language has it's own peculiarities.

I hate the way it sounds and I hate how EVERYTHING is based on scripts and there is nothing more obnoxious than listening to middle aged men who end all their sentences in "desu ne"

What does "desu ne" mean?

Depends on context but usually it's kind of a rhetorical affirmation of what you've just said. for example if I said "It's hot today desu ne" that could mean "It's hot today isn't it." The worst is "Anou desu ne" because "anou" is just a filler word like "um" or "euh."
