Impetigo - The Wizard of Gore
Music is OK, but I'm not too fond of the vocals. 4/10
Varathron - Hellwitch (Witches Gathering)
Best part was the one from 2:56 until 3:24, but the music was overall quite decent (apart from the - luckily - rather short blast beats part). Vocals might not be my favourite kind, but are still bearable. I wonder if the vocalist was hungry when they were recording the vocal parts of this song, because to me, it sounds rather like he's singing "sandwich" than "Hellwitch" all the time. 7/10
Saint Vitus - Mystic Lady
Not one of my favourite songs by Saint Vitus, but still 8.5/10
Black Knight - Day of the Wizard
Sounds dated (because it is), but even though it's just "ordinary" Heavy Metal, I really like this song and also the vocals. 8/10
Black Magic - Rite of the Wizard
Sounds dated (even though it isn't) and the stlye isn't that much different from the previous song. I also like this song, though a bit less than Black Knight. 7.5/10
Barathrum - Dark Sorceress (Autumn Siege)
Overall quite enjoyable. The fact that the music is more Doom than Black Metal and that the vocals sound more like Thrash than Black Metal most likely did help (for me). 7.5/10
Savatage - White Witch
I like the guitar work and the vocals, especially the screams. The chorus is disappointingly dull compared to the rest of the song, though. Therefore only 7/10
Mystifier - An Elizabethan Devil Worshipper's Prayer Book
Vocalist sounds like a hoarse downtuned Gollum ("my precious booook"). As regards the lyrics, it looks like they tried to include any known cliché associated with Black Metal. These "over the top"-lyrics in combination with how they are recited plus the sometimes funny pronunciation had me giggling more than once. Since I neither dislike the music nor the vocals and especially because of its high - most likely unintended - comedic value, I rate this song 8.5/10 (If the vocalist had pronounced "devil" like "evil" (or vice versa) to make it rhyme, I'd probably have fallen off my chair and added an extra half a point for it!)
Obtained Enslavement - Warlock
Lyrics not as cringe-worthy as in the song before, thus far less comedic value. Music-wise, pretty generic Black Metal - with a few nice keyboard melodies here and there hidden underneath. While I found the mostly spoken words-vocals in the previous song funny, the usual Black Metal-vocals in this song just go on my nerves. 3.5/10
Necrodeath - The Revenge of the Witches
Music-wise, a decent song, but the last minute is just an overlong inispired fader. I really do like the lyrics, criticising the witchhunt in Triora in the late 16th century (looked it up after reading the lyrics) and thus far away from any run-of-the-mill-"devil/evil/satan-blablabla". Since the vocals are mostly still bearable and because of the lyrics, I rate this song 7/10 (Why this clip has got an "Explicit lyrics"-warning is beyond me.)
Avatarium - Lady in the Lamp
Even though neither Candlemass' "A Sorcerer's Pledge" nor their "Witches" have been submitted, Leif Edling still found his way into this round. By far the softest song in this playlist, but there's no rule that ballads aren't eligible and this is an excellent one! I love the song itself, the vocals and, of course, especially the fantastic guitar work/solos. Therefore 10/10
