EXODUS

the lack of activity in this thread is mind blowing. i guess this isnt "techy" or "deathcorey" enough for the crowd here these days. no wonder Andy doesn't post here anymore.

Not much to say. Kemper guitars so no guitar amp/mic porn speculation. Great drummer with good equipment, engineering and room. Songs sound pretty good, vocals sound okay but the lyrics are a bit laughable in my book.

... but there is still an amp/cab/mic combination that made that profile that we can speculate on. to my ears it almost sounds like they mic'd up gary's savage and then eq matched it to tempo of the damned.

on a related note, does anyone else feel like different profiles were used on the guitar for different songs? i feel like the sound on numb and wrapped in the arms of rage kind of has a xxx/exhibit a vibe but then the rest of the songs sound like a combination of exhibit b and tempo to me.

I definately hear a XXX or Savage like crunch during the middle section of Numb. Am sure not matter what though its Gary/Lees touch that is most important. I be interested to know what PUPs were used too.

gary said in a couple interviews he is running a profile of his modded '87 marshall when they play live... i would guess that the same profile was used for the album. def sounds like t75 speakers too so i would guess marshall cab.

I think he said that they also recorded the guitars at home, which would make sense that it is infact that profile.

what you think about the sound?

I tried record heavy guitar with
marshall valvestate 8100, fender speaker 12" and shure sm57

( riff idea from youtube )
