Never took anything as personnal offenses to your criticisms, not even to your pitiful insults. Matter of fact : what you said had to be interpreted the way I and Samsara did. But I just think you realized how stupid you were, because what you said was clearly that your opinions were facts, somehow.
"i know i've seen others express this belief many times on this forum, and if you'd like the proof, pull out a pair of headphones and listen to a watershed song yourself."
...is exactly what you said, and shows are wrong you are.
"to prevent certain people from totally misinterpreting my post (the usual), im going to put this in bold: there is no problem with a band changing direction with every album, as long as it is done with taste."
...which makes it even more ironic... and saying "as long as it is done with taste" is just ridiculous. (EDIT : Funny, the e-mail I received contains less insults, so you edited just to look more bad.)
I agree with you there. What I agree on:
Mike seems to be going in a more prog direction, which lots of times is having something different just for the sake of being different and weird. By doing that, I don't feel the emotion that came out of the earlier music. It seems like the music is now aimed at the mind, when it used to be to the heart (soul, whatever). So, while the album sounds great and has a lot of unique ideas, the music doesn't connect like it used to. A lot of it is like "hmmm, thats a nice idea" as opposed "OMG I'M CUMMING!!!!"
I agree with you there.
BWP was the last album I found really overwhelming. Each song had something totally unique: the solos of Leper Affinity, the chorus in Bleak, the epicness and climax of Drapery Falls, the depressive beauty(?) of Dirge, the drive and the solos of Funeral Portrait and finally the brutality of Blackwater Park (especially the last 3 minutes, omg).
GR and WS, on the other hand, are damn good albums, but I justdon't get that genius feel from them.
Nasty: Just leave it alone at this point, dude.

holy shit

Not sure if offtopic but...
I think they've been musically "degenerating" all the way since Orchid, if you notice, Every album is more and more simple, It took about 10 listens to get to Orchid, about 2-5 to get to Morningrise, not sure about MAYH I just got it, SL took about 4 listens, BWP took like 3, Deliverance took 1-2 (I don't count Damnation now, it's not a prog album), GR then did took about 3-6 listens but it's because it was my first opeth album.
It doesn't sound THAT bad, except that Watershed was instant hit with the first listen.
I hope that in the future they again keep on making more +10min songs instead of more short songs like in Watershed.
i dont want to get into an arguement but this is the most retarded post ive seen in a very long time

Thank you, whateverway I am a noob anyway.
(Though I'm one of those people who think that Orchid is their best album, musically.)
Edit: actually, I'm wearing orchid longsleeve atm.
