We have one guitar, (purposefully) and I'm a big fan of bass (purposefully), and we always make sure it's very much a part of the mix and the band (purposefully).

Doubt away. But I've had multiple conversations with my fellows about albums with incredible bass work, they'd heard (and often owned) said albums, and had no idea what I was talking about.

I think it's more the fact that so much music of every genre now is downplaying the instrument in the mix so much...more people likely have the *ability* to pick it out, but you on the other hand are listening as a bass player with experience listening to the bass and find more ease in following the instrument, even in a bad mix.

I actually tried telling my Dad about how Bill O'Reiley's arguments are based on logical fallacies and he had no idea what I was talking about. I chuckled. That guy's the king of the Ipse Dixit though.
