Well we need a name for it first, so at this point we are waiting on Andy.

From there I can draft up a "official" letter from my Label / Studio and get it out there. unless you guys want to use someone else's more established name. Its up to you guys, I don't want this to feel like I am taking over the project to anyone. I dont want to be stepping on toes.

Well we got our answer from Andy, and I am glad we asked :)

So now we need to come up with a way to identify ourselves other then Andy Sneap or AS Forum, Any ideas?

Well a video with short clips of each finished cover on youtube, a myspace page, soundclick page, pages for every music and music selling website possible :D

Is there a deadline or something - Please let me know :) When should I have my vocals finished?

I thought it was meant to be finished by the end of July

Well, when I did my artwork Dan mentioned that "To Heaven through Hell" was being tossed around as a title at one point..

Thats a pretty good name, perhaps the perfect name for it, I mean he went through hell with the cancer and shit, and now some people would say hes in heaven now...

This is a good name. I like it.

But are you guys sure you want to sell this? I know it's for the good cause but let's be realistic, we are hardly stars for anyone outside our forum. How many people would check it out if they had to pay? There is a zillion of tribute compilations and most of them pretty bad. It's not like the world is waiting for ours. Maybe a voluntary donation instead? I know these hardly ever work, but I don't think we are in position to charge for it.

I'm guessing you haven't read through all of the posts or threads involving this topic

We're not selling this. No one is making a profit from this in ANY way. We are looking to set up a way that you can only get a link to the downloads AFTER you make a donation to one of the charities Dio himself was active with or supported

You are guessing wrong (I even mentioned a good cause). If somebody has to part with their money to hear this - it's selling. Don't get me wrong (again), I'm all for the charity... but let's be real. How many people outside the forum will be interested in our effort to actually buy this? I know 5$ isn't much but it's really not about the amount.

I may be wrong, but I think it's worth to discuss it.

eventho I have officially nothing to do with the project, I will still use the "we" form as the team who makes the songs; Let's separate oranges from apples....

There is a difference between donation and selling. Donating makes the money exchange voluntary, selling makes the money exchange compulsory. for example even if you are attending a charity concert, but if you are required buy a ticket even if all of the money gets donated. That is selling. If there is a free admission but a box that says voluntary entry fee that goes to charity means that you can pay anything between $0-infinite. That is a donation.

But the fact is that "we" aren't selling it for for earning purposes, but we distribute it to give money to the dio cancer funds / other charity program with 0% net funds for "us". The dio cancer funds / other charity program gets the money with 100% net funds. You also have to realize that "we" are recording tribute aka cover songs. This means "we" only have the copyright for the performance, but "we" don't have any copyright for the lyrics, composition or arrangement (unless they are totally different, which would require written permission from the dio party for publishing), so we can't/won't get any royalties from possible radioplay etc from them. If you have any more questions or unclarities, please feel free to ask.

My English must be worse than I thought if you can't seem to get my point after two posts. All I'm asking is to think how many people will be interested in parting with their money to get this album. Outside this forum.

You'll got a point there. But i'll guess we have to wait and see how many Dio Tribute albums there will be anyway...
