Sweden is a nation with extraordinary high tax rates and a large fraction of the population is living on benefits rather than working.
Sweden is undergoing a privatisation shift atm IIRC. Something about trying to reduce national debt/deficits, that pesky reality of government spending. When you already tax at nearly 50%, hard to raise them anymore to cover largesse.
Heh, the tax rate is high but not quite that high. Payroll tax in Sweden is 31%. If I was working 15-20 years ago I would probably not have had a problem with that - contributing to a well functioning society and all - but with the new influx of freeloaders I welcome even more privatisation.
