Sitting in a hotel room in Madison, Wisconsin, paid for by my grad program. Just delivered a paper at a conference today and it was very well received. They had a keg of New Glarus Spotted Cow ale at the banquet afterward. Today has been fantastic.

Congrats! I've spent all summer working on a draft for submission to a journal. If that doesn't get accepted, I may shorten it to conference paper length and look around for events.

At MDF when I was tripping on mushrooms I kept thinking the goverment was going to take me to prison when I got to the hotel so I talked to the dude at the front desk thinking he knew what I did and eventually I said fuck it, I'm going back to my room and going to sleep. He said that was probably a good idea.

So my political science professor might be insane...

I should have known when I had my first day of class that she was insane and I needed to get out of there, when she was talking about some hidden provision of Obamacare that would allow the government to take away guns from people who had diabetes and high blood pressure...

but she gives us an assignment last week for a two page paper on federalism. No big deal. Until she goes into the details of the paper

We must discuss the pros and cons of PRESIDENT OBAMA giving away 7 oil rich islands to the Russians! THAT DAMN OBAMA

and explain who supports doing this, who is against it, what special interest groups are involved, etc.

the problem is ...

this situation is literally not even true

no one supports it because it isn't happening
people are against it because they're fucking idiots who don't realize that George H.W. Bush "gave the islands away" when he signed a treaty with Russia to determine the maritime boundaries between the US and Russia...

I can bullshit a paper easy on anything, but the requirements of this paper make it impossible to write given that the events supposedly happening are NOT happening
