Dio Tribute "Rainbow in the Dark" Song Discussion

Oooook it's 2:30 am and i think it's a good work.
what do you think mates?
there are 2 versions.
one with Rbass in the kick drum and the other without it.

The one with rbass

without rbass

please comments my ears are tired, and it's too late!.
See you tomorrow

Okay, I MIGHT rerecord the guitars once again... Btw the mix sounded pretty good. It's just that I managed to get out a little bit better sounds and overall even tighter playing.. but the hearable difference between the tone is... well, unhearable. So don't worry if you liked my guitar sound..

Thanks, yes i think it's better to rerecord the guitars but as far as i can hear again with fresh ears it's going to rock! :headbang:
i have to work on the toms, i want them more up front. what do you think?

Bass used: Fender Precision Custom Fivestring through Apogee Duet, some ampsim and some distortion.

BTW Severus, can you share the chain effect of the bass you recorded? I loved that tune. cause I've been trying to reach that sound but never get it.

PD. specifically what amp sim, distorion, etc.

Yeah, sure, glad you liked it. Well I actually kept it pretty basic. I used a custom five string Fender Precision directly into an Apogee Duet into Logic Pro 9. There, I duplicated the signal onto three tracks: one is basically the clean DI with some of Logic's native compression and eq just to tame the transients a bit and bring the bass into context with the drums, nothing fancy going on there, the second one is Logic's bass ampsim for the clean bass amp tone (I think I used the Ampeg sim setting - sounds pretty much like my SVT3-PRO) and the distorted one is done with Waves GTR solo with a VERY distorted setting but very low in the mix compared to the other two tracks. I could send you the screen shots but it's actually pretty much a "tweak to taste" kinda thing and may only work with this particular bass, since it's a pretty awkward instrument to begin with (a Precision on steroids). Hope that helps! Cheerz! Great mix by the way, although the guitars seem a bit out of context. Let's wait for the vocals and we'll see then.

Thanks for the tip, i'll try it. BTW what do you mean by the guitars are a little out of context?

Ok guys!!!
Here it is. I think it's much better than the last one. the guitars are well blended, not "too bright and twangy".
I hope you like it. And Spamds, the bad chord at the end of the song was a very bad joke lol! anyway we can fade out the song.
this is it.

mmm... :D

Could we trigger the snare and and maybe blend it (50%) with some sample which is a bit more "hard-hitting" ? The snare sounds fine by itself now too, but I guess it could be more "dry"... less reverb... more like in the original song!

But,

You'll be the judge.

Ok i'll notch down the reverb and see how it works
