As an Australian I try to be barefoot as often as possible.

Question for you guys, mostly those abroad. Do you take off your shoes when you are at home? Because when you watch American TV and stuff they usually have their shoes on which seems super weird imo.

Inside. I have a closet in the front hallway for just the purpose. Outside here is less than great..i I can imagine it ending poorly in Australia

My area is heavily Asian immigrants and Muslims so it's not that bad, but every so often dodgy white trash and young aboriginals cut through the bush near my place and my shit would be ghosted so fast.

... that's funny considering its a tradition with arabs. I have one Lebanese friend who used to ask people to take their shoes off before walking in, he pretty much gave up after everyone started ignoring him.

I find it kind of disgusting tbh. I dont wanna put my feet down anywhere else that someone has walked around in their sweaty, athletes foot infected socks and feet. Only house i take my shoes off in is my own.

Edit: shoes on or off debate: I let my guest(s) decide what's more comfortable for them. It also depends like where in the house we are. The basement, i always keep my shoes on, but my room since there's rug
i take my shoes off n usually they'll follow. But I don't care either way

When there's snow on the ground or it's mud season it's common courtesy to take your shoes off around here so you don't drag that shit all over the house.
