Hank Williams - Alone and Forsaken 9/10

Perfect for my mood lately, what with all the Deadwood I've been watching.

Creation of Sunlight - Light Without Heat 7/10

This one is new to me, but it sounds very familiar. That whole west coast psychedelic scene gave us some cool music.

Ricky Martin - Nobody Wants to Be Lonely 1/10

Featuring Christina Aguilera!? Go fuck yourself whoever submitted this.

Devics - Forget Tomorrow 8/10

This is fantastic and also new to me, yet with a familiarity.

Sayuri Ishikawa - Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki 10/10

I forget who it was that submitted the Japanese songs in the past but if this was submitted by the same person, you're a genius. Perfect.

Velvet Underground - After Hours 7.5/10

This is 1969 and indie artists are still trying to sound like this. I love Moe Tucker.

The Cure - The Drowning Man 9/10

Faith is a masterpiece, what can I say.

God - My Pal 8/10

Legendary! Grew up listening to these guys.

Sandy Denny - Fotheringay 10/10

"The evening hour is fading within the dwindling sun,
And in a lonely moment those embers will be gone.
And the last of all the young birds flown."

Yeah I suppose, ordinarily it would've won but now everyone's gonna downrate it because they know it's yours. Sorry.

You might as well just end the round and declare me the winner since you've caused me so much trouble.

Hank Williams - Alone and Forsaken
Awesome. I need to check out some more Hank. 9/10

Creation of Sunlight - Light Without Heat

Not doing much for me. 5/10

Ricky Martin - Nobody Wants to be Lonely

How come songs dont have such meaningful lyrical content nowadays?...have the writers become lazy? they should make another duet song ...kinda miss this kind of duet, the song the lyric and the voices are a great combination. ONE of the best duets ever, Xtina’s voice is amazing. The guy who get Ricky Martin is the luckiest man in this world,he's so sexy and handsome, wow,if i could i would! 0/10

Devics - Forget Tomorrow

Really cool. Love the dynamic shifts. 9/10

Sayuri Ishikawa - Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki

Great but I liked the one in the last round much more. Weirdly when this song finished it it played that instead of the next song on the playlist. Anyway 8/10

Velvet Underground - After Hours

Hipster shite 4/10

The Cure - The Drowning Man

Oh Robert 8/10

God - My Pal

Pretty damn good for a bunch of Aussie 15 year olds in 1987. Classic. 10/10

Sandy Denny - Fotheringay

Twee as all getout but nice enough 7/10

Nice list. Good hustle guys.

Hank Williams - Alone and Forsaken

9/10

This is the perfect way to begin this playlist. Hank Williams is the man.

Creation of Sunlight - Light Without Heat

8/10

I've never heard this, but I really liked it.

Ricky Martin - Nobody Wants to be Lonely 10/10

Masterpiece. <3

Devics - Forget Tomorrow

6/10

This is cool to a point, but not supremely impressive.

Sayuri Ishikawa - Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki

8/10

I liked this a lot more than I expected.

Velvet Underground - After Hours

9/10

Way ahead of its time.

The Cure - The Drowning Man 9/10

Fuchsia. <3

God - My Pal

8/10

Very cool.

Sandy Denny - Fotheringay

9/10

Creation of Sunlight - Light Without Heat - 5 hippie shit

Velvet Underground - After Hours - simple and pleasant 8
The Cure - The Drowning Man - 9 melancholic in a wonderful way
God - My Pal - 7.5 pretty good. a bit kurt cobainey

Hank Williams - Alone and Forsaken
9/10
Proto gothic country

Creation of Sunlight - Light Without Heat
7.5/10
Wistful psychadelia

Ricky Martin - Nobody Wants to be Lonely
5.5/10
It's not what I would call good, but it's not dogshit either. Latin-influenced pop of that era was by and large devoid of that insipid happy-go-lucky aesthetic that dominates pop from most other eras in recent memory.

Devics - Forget Tomorrow
9/10
Very noir and even a bit ominous.

Sayuri Ishikawa - Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki
8/10
Weeaboos ought to jerk off to this rather than jpop, but I guess it's not kawaii enough.

Velvet Underground - After Hours
6/10
Even though it does bear that hallmarks of twee shit, it's at least better executed than most of its ilk.

The Cure - The Drowning Man
8/10
I must confess that I've never listened that much to The Cure.

God - My Pal
8/10
Geez, we've had two "my pals" songs in a row. Can we lay off the racism, guys?

Sandy Denny - Fotheringay
8.5/10
Raw melancholy

Hank Williams - Alone and Forsaken – alright but plain, heard this kind of thing too many times, 5/10

Creation of Sunlight - Light Without Heat – not much into hippie shit but this song seems particularly lush and textured compared to a lot of what I’ve heard, really enjoying this, 9/10

Ricky Martin - Nobody Wants to be Lonely – fantastic all around, I need to add Ricky Martin to my iPod for my commute, 8/10

Devics - Forget Tomorrow – did nothing for me, cookie-cutter creepy-dollhouse music, 4/10

Sayuri Ishikawa - Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki – her voice makes it, 7.5/10

Velvet Underground - After Hours – I’m more partial towards Jane’s Addiction and Bush, but this is pretty good alternative rock, 7/10

The Cure - The Drowning Man – was going to say I like the earlier Cure stuff to their more famous material but this still dragged, maybe they pioneered this stuff but others did the gloomy jangle thing better, very tiring, 3/10

God - My Pal – this was a fantastic perfect little song, will explore further, 10/10

Sandy Denny – Fotheringay – also excellent, listened to this one twice because it went too quickly the first time, really captivating, 10/10

Great playlist overall, even though there’s some stuff I didn’t like it felt particularly cohesive.

undeniable 8/10

Creation of Sunlight - Light Without Heat

grew on me a lot despite my general aversion to drugged out psych pop. 7.5/10

Ricky Martin - Nobody Wants to be Lonely

it's no 'maria' that's for sure. un, dos, tres/10

Devics - Forget Tomorrow

probably not something i would normally enjoy, but it succeeds through vaguely reminding me of several things i love. 7.5/10

Sayuri Ishikawa - Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki

lol it's so obvious who submitted basically all of these 8/10

Velvet Underground - After Hours

i enjoy this kind of brittle lo-fi twee, and this was the grandmother of that scene. ridiculous how VU manage to sound more modern than virtually everyone in the '70s and '80s, let alone the '60s. 7.5/10

The Cure - The Drowning Man

more of a PORNOGRAPHY man myself, FAITH is too much of a grey mopey dirge for me these days but i still like it a fair amount. production elevates it a little. 6.5/10

God - My Pal

lol at this being the actual title. 9/10

Sandy Denny - Fotheringay

yes 9.5/10
