Non-metal Themed Mixtape Game

I actually thought of a few songs early on, but I'd like to see if I can find something from an artist that hasn't been submitted before.

The only difficulty for me was to decide which of the several songs coming to my mind to choose. Some were more obvious than others. I could post a list with suggestions, but that's probably against the rules and would also spoil the fun.

That's not so bad really, don't you have those tunes that you can't decide between a 7 or 8? it's fucking normal
i'm trying @Omni, l keep just coming up with instrumentals tho. Or Stevie Wonder (which l love, just a tad too predictable)

There's tons of video uploads of the song on YouTube. I'm confident that you'll find one that is available in your region if you just do a search.

yeah l knew that. just in case ya know? ;)

1. Hole - I don't mind Love's voice at all tbh and the geetar layering is quite cool. but that's about it. It went on for far too long. 6/10

2. Garmarna - This is quite good. Great music, it's the right side of dark but not intrusive.Terrific words. 8/10

3. Cranberries - Ugh, l went to Israel in 94 to work on a kibbutz, and had an Israeli girlfriend that loved this song and this band the whole 6 months l lived there. She was gorgeous apart from her obsession with the fucking Cranberries. l learnt to hate them. 1/10

4. Golden - Kinda quaint and sweet if repetitive. i would never choose this as listening material but l probably wouldn't change the station if it came on. 7/10

5. Mahler - Absolutely stunning all the way through. 10/10

6. Jerry Goodman and Jan Hammer - This is the sound of sheer joy. Beautifully played and Deep. Both are legends. 9/10

7. Sol Invictus - l do enjoy this kind of plodding minimalist, well done meander that revolves around the single riff, and this deserves more than a slight from an unbeliever. 8/10

8. Tom Waits - Does what Waits does. 5/10

9. The Shaggs - oh yes...the Shaggs. -1/10

Hole - Good Sister-Bad Sister
I really like vocals and their intensity which, as already stated elsewhere before, remind me of Dawn Crosby's vocal performance on "Within the Veil" (which is one of my overall favourites). 9/10

Garmarna - Vengeance
Great song from a great album. The reason why I tend to prefer this type of nordic folk-influenced music to folk(-influenced) music from other places is the dark mood it often conveys, the somewhat raw and unpolished sound and occasional slightly dissonant parts. And I also like Emma Härdelin's voice very much. 10/10

The Cranberries - Ode to My Family
Considerung how much I dislike their hit "Zombie" because of the annoying chorus, this was a positive surprise. I like the vocal lines and the overall melancholic feeling of this song. 8/10

Golden - Ma Petite est Mariée
Never heard of this band before. Overall a pleasant song, though a bit too long for my taste. 7/10

Gustav Mahler - Kindertotenlieder 3 - Wenn dein Mütterlein
Difficult to rate. It's not the type of music I would like to hear more of, yet not something I dislike either. The lyrics are touching, though - in spite of being German - I usually tend to dislike songs being sung in German (there are some exceptions). 7,5/10

Jerry Goodman & Jan Hammer - Country and Eastern Music
Interesting music and nice bass sound. Not too impressed by the short vocal parts. 7/10

Sol Invictus - Sawney Bean
Even though it's rather repetitive, I somehow like this song, probably because of its mood. 8/10

Tom Waits - Cemetery Polka
Not exactly the type of music I like, but one of the most original songs in this list. 7/10

The Shaggs - Who Are Parents?
Until the previous song, I thought this could be a list without one song I actually dislike, but the final song proved me wrong. I feel inclined to give it a negative rating like Sirjack, but I'll leave it at 0/10

Hole - Good Sister-Bad Sister
7/10 - Always intended to listen to early Courtney Love, but just hadn't gotten around to it. Sounds good.

Garmarna - Vengeance
1/10 - Enough with the Swedish women, ugh.

The Cranberries - Ode to My Family
4/10 - My mother was a big fan of the Cranberries in the 90s. Even children can identify bad music.

Golden - Ma Petite est Mariée
5/10 - Meh, I'd give it a four, but I don't think it would be fair to put it with the Cranberries.

Gustav Mahler - Kindertotenlieder 3 - Wenn dein Mütterlein
10/10 - Kindertotenlieder is good music to have a cry to if you're into that sort of thing. There's nothing I don't like by Mahler, and I would definitely peg this piece as my second favorite, behind Das Lied von der Erde.

Jerry Goodman & Jan Hammer - Country and Eastern Music
8/10 - Nice.

Sol Invictus - Sawney Bean
6/10 - Not something I'd seek out, but it's in any case inoffensive.

Tom Waits - Cemetery Polka
5/10 - I dig out of tune, offensive things, but this is a little silly.

The Shaggs - Who Are Parents?
9/10 - What separates this from the previous is sincerity. Naked sincerity.

Rainy saturday mornings...

Hole - Good Sister-Bad Sister
3/10.
AssHole

Garmarna - Vengeance
8/10.
Ethereal and haunting. I enjoyed this.

The Cranberries - Ode to My Family
7.5/10.
My wife loves The Cranberries so I'm familiar. Judging the band by Zombie is unfair to yourself.

Golden - Ma Petite est Mariée
5/10.
No standout here.

Gustav Mahler - Kindertotenlieder 3 - Wenn dein Mütterlein
4/10.
Nose stuck entirely too high in the air.

Jerry Goodman & Jan Hammer - Country and Eastern Music
6/10.
I didnt hate this but I just cant rate it higher.

Sol Invictus - Sawney Bean
8/10.
Jet black lyrics set to etheral folk music is something I'll always enjoy

Tom Waits - Cemetery Polka
8/10.
A good song but short. Sounds a lot like it was ripped from ANBC.

The Shaggs - Who Are Parents?
2/10.
I'm not surprised Zappa liked this. It's shitty and so was he.

Hole - Good Sister-Bad Sister
I can't help but hear her hideous personality in the music and it's an instant turnoff. It's not too bad otherwise. 6/10

Cheesy drama. Not terrible but eh. 5/10

The Cranberries - Ode to My Family
Oh god please no 2/10

Golden - Ma Petite est Mariée
Nice. Awesome musicianship, great production. Only criticism is that it's a tad too long. 9/10

Gustav Mahler - Kindertotenlieder 3 - Wenn dein Mütterlein
Nice. Not anything I'd normally check out or enjoy but I liked the mood. 7/10

Jerry Goodman & Jan Hammer - Country and Eastern Music
Weird production but this rules otherwise 8/10

Sol Invictus - Sawney Bean
Found this pretty boring and annoying 3/10

I'm not a Tom Waits fan and this isn't helping to sway me at all 4/10

The Shaggs - Who Are Parents?
Large amounts of nope 0/10

Hole - Good Sister-Bad Sister
I like Hole better than Nirvana so. 8/10.
