Laid-back, jazzy boogie soul music. I'm liking it. Almost hard to believe this is modern.

Modest Mouse - Ohio 5/10

I just can't get into these ultra-American rock/punk bands, the vocal styles (strong whiny accent is what I meant by "ultra-American") always without fail annoy me into distaste. Which sucks because often I like their ideas, productions and instrumentation.

Siouxsie & The Banshees - Suburban Relapse 9/10

Pretty much contains everything I want in a non-metal piece of music.

Angizia - Mein Gaul, Mein Gaul Verreckt Im Dreck 4/10

Is it on theme because the horse is being overworked? Kind of an irritating listen in general.

Pearl Jam - Blood 4/10

Pointless radio "hard rock" lacking in substance. Meh.

Portishead - Threads 7/10

I really liked the building tension in this piece. Portishead are great.

Rosemary & Garlic - Old Now 8/10
......And this is why I play, to discover new, amazing music. This was adorable and charming and beautiful in every way.

Melanie Laurent - En T’attendant 4/10

After translating the lyrics, I don't quite see how it's on theme. As to the music, it's okay, somewhat standard.

Michael Jackson - Workin' Day And Night 7/10

Great song. Classic album.

Pretty good list, thanks to those that showed me some new music. :D

The RH Factor – I’ll Stay
Nice cover of the old Funkadelic tune. 7/10

Modest Mouse – Ohio
Yep I still can't stand this band. Hipster wank. They do sound pretty exhausted though, so points for that. 4/10

Siouxsie and the Banshees – Suburban Relapse
Dug this, simple but effective and intense and the lyrics rule. 8/10

Angizia - Mein Gaul, mein Gaul verreckt im Dreck
I'm a pleb that doesn't appreciate high art like this. Annoying as fuck. 2/10

Pearl Jam – Blood

I used to like this band back in the early days of grunge. They had some ok moments but this is just dad rock really. 4.5/10

Portishead – Threads
Great song. Haven't listened to this in ages. Portishead are the undisputed heavyweight champions of bleak. 8/10

Rosemary & Garlic - Old Now
Nice. Reminds me of Radiohead crossed with Chelsea Wolfe. 8.5/10

Melanie Laurent – En t’attendant

Not but but nothing special. Pleasant. 5.5/10

Michael Jackson - Workin' Day And Night

One of my fave MJ tunes. Super funky and danceable and full of youthful enthusiasm. 10/10

The RH Factor – I’ll Stay - 7
pretty smooth

Modest Mouse – Ohio - 6
dig the guitar and overall mood

Siouxsie and the Banshees – Suburban Relapse - 5
unsettling yet interesting in a way

Angizia - Mein Gaul, mein Gaul verreckt im Dreck - 4
german is cool but this is weird

Pearl Jam – Blood - 4
redneck rock

Portishead – Threads - 8
beautifully somber and gets fuckin intense towards the end wow

Rosemary & Garlic - Old Now - 9
so peaceful and soothing it makes me forget about illegals for awhile

Melanie Laurent – En t’attendant - 9
she's tired of waiting and is hungry for cock, which id gladly give her

Michael Jackson - Workin' Day And Night - 7
quite good but he has much better (thriller, bad and dangerous)

I had all the intention of rating this today but stupid fucking homework got in the way. And when I was done with my paper, I tried to get a beer (fucking orval Trappist) from the freezer and the shit popped all over me. Sooo... Yeah I'll try again tomorrow

The RH Factor – I’ll Stay

7/10

This is pretty cool. I haven't heard the original song.

Modest Mouse – Ohio

5/10

I'm not really into this but it isn't terrible.

Siouxsie and the Banshees – Suburban Relapse

7.5/10

That was cool. Unique sound.

Angizia - Mein Gaul, mein Gaul verreckt im Dreck

3/10

I don't know what this is.

Pearl Jam – Blood

4/10

Boring.

Portishead - Threads

6/10

Pretty interesting singer.

Rosemary & Garlic - Old Now

7/10

I expected something stupid because of the artist name. It wasn't stupid.

Melanie Laurent – En t’attendant

6/10

This was okay enough.

Michael Jackson - Workin' Day and Night

6/10

This is good. Not one of his better songs.

Man... this is awesome. Giving me all the smooth feels. Jeez, I'm packing and this is making me enjoy doing something moderately annoying. Perfect way to start the playlist.

2. Modest Mouse - Ohio 4/10
This is kinda boring. The staccato thing is almost cool, but not really. I guess that described Ohio in a nutshell. And the vocals are annoying, I agree with that comment. The last part is sorta cool. Some moments in this sounds cool but idk.

3. Siouxsie and the Banshees - Suburban Relapse 8/10
I like this a lot. I need to listen to them more. This makes me feel a little uneasy and I'm pretty into it.

4.Angizia - Mein Gaul, mein Gaul verreckt im Dreck 6/10
Is it wrong of me to think from the title, "Oh no not another boring classical track?" Let's see... Okay, not what I was expecting. Ha, this is weird as fuck. I don't mind it though. My goth weird side is into this. It sounds a little steam punky to me. That scream in the end, doe.

5. Pearl Jam - Blood 4/10

Meh... Idk. I guess there's some fun parts but I don't feel much listening to this. Nothing really stands out or is memorable.

6. Portishead - Threads 10/10

Loving the atmosphere of this right off the bat. This is exactly what I'm in the mood for right now. This is freaking beautiful. I'll probably listen to this another 100 times after this playlist is finished. That was awesome.

7. Rosemary & Garlic - Old Now 8/10

I'm a sucker for pretty sounding things. This feels very homely to me. I guess my brain is trying to combine the scent of rosemary and garlic... yummm.

8. Melanie Laurent - En t'attendant 5/10

I like listening to her speak French, but this song is kinda boring.

9. Michael Jackson - Working Day and Night 7/10
I'm almost done packing and yep, breaking out the dance moves with this.

I really enjoyed this playlist! Came in handy for packing. Now I'm off to listen to some more Portishead because that shit ruled.

Roy Hargrove & The RH Factor - I'll Stay
This is pleasant but I really hope this entire mixtape isn't going to be this lethargic.
7/10

Modest Mouse - Ohio

uuuuuuuuggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
seriously though
10/10

Siouxsie and the Banshees - Suburban Relapse
This was so good I was disappointed that the last two minutes of the video were only silence.
9/10

Angizia - Mein Gaul, mein Gaul verreckt im Dreck

I don't understand this and I don't understand why anyone would listen to this.
1/10

Pearl Jam - Blood

WHOSE BLOOD, EDDY? funny how eddy is so anti gun, but assisted freaktoid johnny depp in getting the memphis three killers released. it is simply repulsive beyond words. you can find excerpts from jessie misskelley's testimony on yt, he knew where the children were sliced up before they died, he described the brutal child murders quite clearly and in a very detailed fashion. it didn't surprise me that depp decided to make it his cause to get these satanic killers freed, but i was surprised eddie vedder got involved in this. too bad, i loved pearl jam. no more.
4/10

Portishead - Threads
6/10

Rosemary & Garlic - Old Now
6/10

Melanie Laurent - En T’attendant
I liked it well enough until the bombastic finale. Not gonna bother looking up the lyrics so I'll just trust that it's on theme.
6/10

Michael Jackson - Workin' Day and Night

NO MAW NO SIRR

The RH Factor – I’ll Stay
a really smooth, satisfying cover. so flawless that it feels a little soulless i guess. 7/10

Modest Mouse – Ohio

so great. unstable and fragile and haunting (or something, i'm never sure how to describe modest mouse tbh. they're up there with mad river as an ideal for gorgeous guitarwork to my ears though) 10/10

Siouxsie and the Banshees – Suburban Relapse

like porno-era cure and ubu with some of that x ray spex attitude over the top and a gradual speeding up into mania that i always associate with suicidal tendencies. course i'm gonna love it. didn't know they ever sounded like this. 9/10

Angizia - Mein Gaul, mein Gaul verreckt im Dreck

exactly what i'd expect from a 'metal cabaret' band pretending to make some authentic regional traditional music. i bet whoever submitted this is the person who usually submits tom waits songs. 3/10

Pearl Jam – Blood

horsepiss! 2/10

Portishead – Threads

the 'hardening of the arteries' of non-metal. no catharsis, no escape. 10/10

Rosemary & Garlic - Old Now
hardly reinventing the wheel but it's lovely, all the textures work together, great voice and tasteful arrangement. doesn't put a foot wrong, and i too am a sucker for some straight up wistful melancholy. 8/10

Melanie Laurent – En t’attendant

this isn't terrible but it's basically a second rate arcade fire song and i don't really find it thematic either. based on her directorial debut (RESPIRE) she might actually be a better director than anything else. 5/10

Michael Jackson - Workin' Day & Night
obvs great. shit just pops. 8/10

good playlist thx

Glad you like Ohio. I get the impression it's one of the less popular songs on the debut but I always felt it was the debut-iest of them all, the one that should've been the title track if it were to have one.

Harsh, I submitted Waits once (the childhood theme). Dunno who submitted him the other times. Anyway, I had to listen to this after that comment and it's awful. Gave me some laughs so that's something I guess.

I didn't submit a song for this, but Portishead is the winner for me.

Soul brotha...

Modest Mouse – Ohio
5.5/10
I don't feel much of anything from this.

Siouxsie and the Banshees – Suburban Relapse

8.5/10
I haven't listened to much of the earliest works from the Banshees; this is a nice pick.

Angizia - Mein Gaul, mein Gaul verreckt im Dreck
9/10
Apparently people have an irrational bias against clarinets. This is clearly the best of the bunch.

Pearl Jam – Blood
6.5/10
I never really liked Pearl Jam all that much, but this is rawer than their single-friendly material.

Portishead – Threads
8.5/10
I haven't explored Portishead, but I'm pretty sure they are the third best thing to come out of Bristol, right after pirate speak and that famous poop chart.

Rosemary & Garlic - Old Now
8/10
Rub this all over a prime rib roast.

Melanie Laurent – En t’attendant
7/10
Evokes enough wistful melancholy to avoid failing to its own placidness.

Michael Jackson - Woikin' Day and Night
4/10
Nothing much to offer here. The previous MJ song had quite a bit more going for it.
